Daeva

History: Eliza Adams was always a good girl; a model of early 18th century British female goodness, prudence, and grace. She dedicated her life to only having pure thoughts, doing charitable works, keeping up her appearance and being the best daughter her strict, but loving father desired. Sure there were times when Eliza felt like her life was like being in a pressure cooker, but lucky for her the rewards usually outweighed the stress. Not only was she the toast of the English aristocracy, her goodness, father's money, and beauty landed her a number of handsome, respectable suitors.

If it weren't for her bitter, hateful sire (who saw a lot of her old self in Eliza), Eliza would've continued her charmed existence. Posing as a haggard beggar, Zola (her sire) took advantage of Eliza's gentle, charitable nature when she allowed Zola to come in and warm-up from the winter’s cold. In return, Zola dragged Eliza from her home and embraced her. The cruelest part came when Zola explained everything to her by telling Eliza that becoming a Nosferatu was her punishment for her wicked ways. Being as naive as she was once beautiful, Eliza took her sire's words hook-line-and-sinker. All those times when she secretly wanted out of her good girl life or envied women with looser morals or from lower classes for all the fun they seemed to have hit the hardest. With tears in her eyes, Eliza threw herself at Zola's feet and begged for her to help her redeem herself.

For the next ten years, Eliza threw herself even more into becoming a model of purity and goodness. She waited on Zola hand and foot without complaint no matter how trivial or back-breaking the chore was and dedicated herself to being a caring and supportive friend to the other Nosferatu. Her dedication won quite a number of friends among the Sewer Rats (who referred to her as their "Princess") and the rare Vampires from the other clans who got to know her. Hoping that the change would eventually cause Eliza to snap and become just like her or at least drive her to kill herself, Zola became even meaner only to have it backfire when the other Nosferatu stood up for Eliza.

Eventually, Zola would get part of her wish (though she was killed by a Werewolf a week before it happened) when Eliza came across a Toreador who was embraced around the same time as her. This girl was a prostitute who revealed in her vices and made no apology for what she did, yet her unlife was so much happier than the one Eliza had. With her innocence shattered and tears in her eyes, she began to hear a voice when she locked herself in her sire’s haven, “Weep not little one, for your burden shall soon be lifted for you have suffered enough. Seek the Warlocks for their knowledge will be your salvation.”

One of Eliza’s Tremere friends was having an affair with a Tzmisce so she decided to take advantage of his predicament and threatened to tell the local Prince if he didn't give her access to his private library. She spent the next five years devouring every piece of knowledge she could get her hands on until she was able to put her own mad theory together. If a Vampire can gain aspects of whoever they diabolized, why can't beauty be one of them? There was an ancient Toreador in torpor in France and since all of his retainers died in the Black Death; he was left vulnerable to Eliza's ambitions.

After managing to locate the elder's tomb, Eliza's own crazed mind began to conduct a ritual that would restore her beauty. While she was a fast learner when it came to the occult, she had no formal training. So what should've been a useless ritual to an otherwise successful diabolization where she would've been her same, hideous self, something happened.

Some say it was Arikel's punishment for destroying one of her children just so some Sewer Rat could be beautiful. Others say it was Caine taking some kind of pity on her without completely removing the curse. Or maybe it was just a cosmic fluke, but that night Eliza became something separate from her clan. Too bad she was so excited about her "success" to look into a mirror and ran over to reunite with her father who liked to spend his summers in Paris. Surprising her father in his vacation home, he was so shocked over the beautiful, yet inhuman state of his daughter that he suffered a fatal heart attack shortly after screaming how this monster could never be his beloved daughter.

Poor Eliza's mind was now completely shattered as she ran into the shadows, never to be seen again. Thirty years later, one of her childer, Thomas Lythe, escaped and offered his services to the local Prince if he'd save him and his "siblings" from their mad sire. To the Prince and his catorie's horror, Eliza's haven was a rotting, mad parody of her former life with her childer playing the roles of people she once knew. The Prince convinced Eliza that he was there to get her the help she needed if her Bloodline agreed to join the Camarilla. Since then, the Daeva became the Camarilla's willing servants.

Victorian Era: The Daeva are getting over their newbie status and beginning to gain some acceptance in the Camarilla. There are still a good number of low-gen Toreadors who live in fear of some uppity Nosferatu trying to diabolize them to alleviate their hideousness. (The Sewer Rats will lick their lips, make a “mmmm” sound and joke about diablerie to unnerve them.) Nor are they buying Eliza’s claims that she's "forgot" how to perform the ritual. Even the notes that her childer gave the clan as a peace offering are nothing more than gibberish straight from Eliza’s crazed mind.

The Truth: The notes that the Toreador destroyed are fakes. All but three of the real notes have been divided between Eliza’s childer for safe keeping. While the fate of the remaining notes is unknown, rumor has it that one of them is owned by the red-listed Ravnos thief, Danya.

Even if the ritual itself turns out to be useless to anyone other than Eliza, anyone who comes into contact with the notes will have a lot of interested parties that have no qualms about prying them from your cold, undead hands to get them back.

Final Nights: The Final Nights is not an easy time for a good number of the Servants. Will both the Toreador and Nosferatu antediluvians judge them? Will they be worthy of either one? What is their place in Gehenna? And now that Eliza has mysteriously vanished during the Week of Nightmares, what is her role in this mess?

The Fifth Childe: There are sightings of a beautiful, slightly effeminate-looking, white-haired teenage boy who happens to be a Daeva of the same generation as Eliza's four children. The Anarchs that had the chance to talk to him know that his name is Michael, he's incredibly charismatic and that he doing a mission for his "missing mother". He claims that Eliza's words speak to him as he gathers recruits and helps others out when he can. The recruits all work together while following their angelic-looking leader on his pilgrimage.

One their biggest incidents were when Michael snuck into an abusive boarding school for troubled teens. Having one of his followers cut off any digital communications and alarms, Michael snuck into a class with the cruelest teacher. After seeing her being a little too trigger happy with one of the students, Michael subdued her and had the class follow him into the main office to make a speech for the students to overturn their teachers, break the shackles of cruelty and show the adults what their true purpose is. The school was made short work of, anything of value was stolen and all the students disappeared with him.

Pronunciation: Day-vah

Nickname: Servants

Faction: Camarilla

Disciplines: Auspex, Obfuscate, Potence

Embrace: Eliza's childer were mainly embraced because they looked liked or reminded her of someone in her old life, but once the Bloodline fell under the Camarilla, embracing has become a lot more controlled. To

The Daeva favor Mortals who are capable of outside-the-box thinking since it makes them not only wells of great insight but usually renders them oddballs in mortal society. Some of the more tender-hearted members like to embrace ugly and unhappy mortals (who are called Swans).

The transformation of a newly-embraced Daeva is as perversely pleasurable as a Nosferatu's gradual decay is wretched; within an hour or two, the human flesh sloughs away like a chrysalis into dry, dusty chunks, leaving the childer in a horrifically perfect alternate form.

Appearance: Just like the Nosferatu, no two Daeva share the same appearance. Despite any beauty they possess, there is always something that makes them a walking Masquerade violation.

Example: Maria’s transformation into a Daeva has let her retain her willowy figure and pretty face at the cost of her flesh turning bone white. Her once long, flaxen blonde hair now looks as if it were made of fiberglass as the strands present a rainbow of colors when the light hits it.

"My beauty is my own": Even if a Daeva is in a room filled with people with higher appearance scores, there wouldn't be a trace of envy. Every Daeva knows that their beauty is uniquely their own and couldn't care less with comparing themselves to others on an aesthetic level. It does not matter how dirty or damaged she gets; to her, she is the fairest of them all.

Weakness: No matter how humble they once were, vanity automatically becomes part of the Daeva psyche. So much that they can't help being entranced by the own reflections in mirrors and must roll willpower vs 6 to break free. They are forbidden to take the flaws, No Reflection, Blind or any others like it.

Organization: To an outsider, it seems that the Daeva's founder is a secretive manipulator, controlling her childer with an iron fist while plotting some grand and probably disastrous scheme from within the secrecy of her haven. This is a deliberate misconception fostered by the four childer of Eliza, who are the true power behind the bloodline; encouraging the fear of their sire, Thomas and his "siblings" cultivate an aura of intimidation to keep the Bloodline from being seen as disposable.

In truth, Eliza is simply a lunatic figurehead, her mind too splintered to accomplish any real planning or direction; her childer understand the specifics of her madness well enough to trot her out at the Bloodline's official functions, timing their questions to correspond with her likely responses in such a way as to make her seem to be making decisions which the elders have in fact long since made themselves.

Culture: The Servants have come to peace that their relationships with their parent clans will be "civil" at best. In a way, not being in the shadows of their parents gives them the chance to build their own identity and question the very nature of what a Vampire is. Where other bloodlines study death, the Daeva know there is "life" in unlife and that the Vampiric condition is something to be viewed outside of humanity. They are fine with "playing Mortal" to keep the Masquerade afloat and being the loyal servants to the clans in return for protection.

It is required that all Daeva refer to their sire’s other childer as their brother or sister. Whether the other childe was embraced before or after you, you must refer to them as either older or younger. Since Eliza’s childer referred and treated each other as siblings as a way to build comradery and survive, the other Daeva must do it as well.

The Cabal: Being the youngest group in the Camarilla, the Daeva knew from the start that they needed to make themselves useful. Eliza's second Childe, Nico, set up a gang of Mortal thugs that would offer their services (theft, leg-breaking, and smuggling) to the Camarilla for a low price. Over time, Nico's group expanded her criminal empire to be a reliable, fairly priced source of aid. While the Assamites still have the market on assassinations, The Cabal is the one that is considered for things like smuggling Vampires to another location in the daylight, mercenary work, and theft.

Imaginary Friends Network: Being able to both charm and be hidden, the IFN was created about a hundred and fifty years ago as the Daeva’s own little sphere of influence. A Daeva will pose as the imaginary friend of a child of great promise (usually a child prodigy or one from a wealthy/successful family), watching over and shaping the child to greatness while influencing them from behind the scenes. Some have even banded together in enhancing their power base by getting their children romantically involved.

Secret Masters: If Thomas is the Daeva's heart and Nico is the body, Eliza's third childe (Luca) is the soul. Starting off as a simple peasant, being thrown into the leagues of the damned gave him a lot to think about. What is the Vampire's place in society? Can one really be "twice damned" or is it just a reminder to them of their originally fallen state via original sin? Playing the eager, young student, Luca flattered a few of the scholars of the Camarilla (and did some things he isn't proud of) to learn more. In time, Luca began structuring his own philosophy that Vampires are an evolutionary step away from humanity. Just like how primates and humans share a common ancestor, Vampires have branched off into their own race and become something superior. Thus, it is the Vampires' role to be the "secret masters" of humanity for the Mortals "own good". Thankfully, Luca is smart enough to word his beliefs to make the others think that it cements their image as kings. After all, give the people what they want to hear and they'll misunderstand what you are really saying.

The truth is that Luca is a Noddist. He believes if the Vampires were to go back to their roles as the stern, but fair leaders of man (as Caine intended), they can be spared. As a child of Arikel, he is to inspire and as one of Absimilard, he is to stay hidden. Thus, this is the path of the Daeva: Play the role given to you (the faithful servant) and perform it well as you subtly inspire things.

Inner Light: A long-deceased childe of Luca's believed that the Daeva's beauty is a sign that the Nosferatu clan is on the road to forgiveness. Which makes Eliza a saint who sacrificed her sanity to show them this. While this part is kept secret, the Inner Light strives to be a silent, humble force of good to prove they are worthy of keeping this precious gift.

Daeva Anarchs and Antitribu: Since Eliza’s childer have a stronghold on the Servants, the number of defectors can be counted on two hands at best. Those that succeed in escaping can expect to be hunted down without mercy from their kin. They are also some of the most dedicated and hardest working members of the Sabbat since they have two Antediluvians to worry about.

Stereotypes

Assamites: "Refinement comes from what we do, not by our blood alone."

"I wonder if servants taste like the dirt they grovel on."

Brujah: "A lesson in why you should never let your failures get the better of you. Otherwise, it eats you from the inside, until your pain is all you have left."

"Yes, sir. Right away sir. You can take all the credit for all my ideas, sir. If they weren't so competent, I'd be punching them in the face."

Followers of Set: “It's like the Mortal who invites all her ugly friends with her on outings so she'll look prettier by comparison. Except the Setites prefer to ruin everyone else to make it seem like their philosophy has a point."

"I think that these little beauties let on more than they think, but are just as prone to corruption as everyone else."

Gangrel: “Sure there were a few exceptions, but they were more beast than kindred. It’s probably for the better that they left.”

"Unnatural and moves like a crazed thing that doesn't know exactly what it is. I say we get rid of it now."

Giovanni: “A clan of incestuous necromancers who’ve seen The Godfather one too many times? Somehow I doubt that these rumors hold too much merit.”

"Obvious misinformation sewn by our rivals. Ignore it."

Lasombra: "They are right about our inhumanity and need to rule over the Kine, but then they go and ruin it by thinking that acting like monsters is the way to go."

"If what is said contains even half the truth, it might be worth our time to see what they can do."

Malkavians: "Just smile and humor the poor, shattered things."

"Oh, pretty bird, all alone. Can I take her in, mommy? She's much too pretty for these cold, lonely streets."

Nosferatu: “They'll never believe it, but we've always respected them. Their unity, strength, and ability to send a powerful leader to his knees with a single rumor is very admirable. But they're still angry and bitter creatures. Then again so would we if our founder's experiment failed.”

"Bah, I refuse to believe it was one of our own that spawn this abomination. They're a nothing, but a mockery of what we are and what we believe."

Ravnos: “The Ravnos are dying breed and since we didn't deal with them all that much, they're not on the highest list of concerns.”

"A supernaturally pretty hybrid of the Nos and Torries that faithfully serve the Camarilla? That's better than the story of the Lost Books of Golconda I told the Prince of Dallas. What do you mean it's true?"

Toreador: “They understand beauty and inspiration and the power it wields, but far too many cannot see beyond the surface and have become victims of it as a result.”

*Stares in rapture for a bit.* "I'm sure the others can handle our faithful little children on our behalf."

Tremere: “Despite their sins and reputation, we can't throw stones at them. After all, neither of us got our start from the best of means.”

"Such good little servants; maybe almost too good."

Tzmisce: “Mutilating themselves into monstrous shapes, torturing humans in dark rituals (or even for fun) and allowing themselves to believe that regressing into fiends will bring enlightenment? I think someone is trying way too hard."

"Interesting possibility. If you can bring one intact, I'd love to study it."

Ventrue: "Ignore what the others say when you play the vassal (even if it costs a little dignity). Tell them what they want to hear and you'll get a little something in return."

"It's nice to have someone in the Camarilla that listens to us. As long as they do what is asked, they can have their own little pursuits."

Daughters of Cacophony: “We don’t see much of our so-called "half-sisters". It’s probably for the better.”

“We may technically be related (kind of), but there is something offsetting that tells us to keep our distance.”

The Others: "It's fascinating at times, but we have more pressing matters to attend to. So it’s more convenient to judge each one on their own merits."

Daeva of Note

Eliza Adams

History: See the history section of the bloodline.

Current Status: During the Week of Nightmares, someone or something had made its way into Eliza’s haven and drove her off. Her childer have managed to cover-up this little incident by saying she went into torpor. The only clue was the deathbed confession from one of Thomas' Ghouls who went to check on her. Even then, all he could recollect was that something caused her to frenzy, maul him and sadly say that "they're calling me" before leaving.

Image: Outside of her four childer, no one has really seen Eliza's full face for more than a few seconds. But those that have gotten even the briefest glimpse say that she is quite breathtaking. Eliza prefers to wear a white, figure-less robe with matching head scarf and a loose veil that covers everything other than her eyes. Even with this covering, she is still a strong, impressive force of personality through her body language alone.

Role-Playing Notes: Despite the image of being a powerful, cunning and iron-fisted leader that your childer have set-up for you, you're just a broken lunatic. Everything is just a shattered mess to you where you coast through life as Thomas' personal figurehead. After all, existence doesn't matter anymore. So far, you've been able to fool any outsider that you are stronger and more stable than you really are. Just play the role you are given to your utmost ability.

You have an odd relationship with your appearance. Your father's denouncement of you still haunts you to this day, convincing you that you are some kind of monster. Still, you can't help being fascinated by how you look when you catch a glimpse of yourself in a mirror. (To outsiders, the coverings are used as a way to control your weakness.) Now if your personality has changed since the Week of Nightmares, that's up to the storyteller.

Thomas Lythe

History: Much like his sire, Thomas has lived charmed existence among the upper-class of England. Unlike Eliza, who was burdened with the pressures of being the perfect British lady, Thomas saw the world of high society as a game. Constantly challenging himself to make a fortune on his own terms, have the best social-climbing sham of a marriage or just have the biggest amount of sycophants among his peers. He viewed life like a bored child waiting to be entertained. That's when fate took an odd turn when he took a trip to France and caught the attention of his sire. Given how his strong, regal bearing reminded her of her father, Eliza kidnapped and embraced him.

It took a while to get over the shock of his new state, but Thomas was able to adapt (being unbondable didn't hurt either) and played the loyal blood bound servant to his mad sire. In time he was able to learn about some rudimentary workings of the Camarilla from Eliza and after years of planning went out to seek their aid while hunting for her. Managing to get the local prince to take him and his Bloodline in, Thomas has spent the rest of his existence playing a new set of games. Now that the rules have changed and the opponents are older and more powerful, it makes things more stressful, yet a lot more fun.

After appointing himself the true leader of the Daeva, Thomas plays his little games of being the faithful servant to a number of Vampires over the years, particularly in the field of money. As he gained some favors, he decided to "convince" his Mortal descendants to run a banking business that now expands through France and the UK. So far, everything was going great until the Week of Nightmares arrived.

Current Status: Eliza's escape has been hitting Thomas harder than he lets on. At first, he was able to handle it until the nightmares came. For the last three years, he's had nightmarish visions of his sire. Eliza often tells him how ashamed she and "her creator" are of his manipulative ways and that he should "listen to the ancients" if he wants to be spared. Like many of the elder members of the Camarilla, Thomas pish-poshes these silly myths or even the idea that he is damned. But as time goes on, it is weighing more on him.

Image: Thanks to his embrace, Thomas is a muscular giant of a man. Standing at 7'0", with a god-like physique, deep blue eyes, an infectious smile and a lovely tan that will never fade no matter how old he gets, Thomas is a man that is hard to ignore. He knows how to use his body to intimidate or make a person swoon. Due to his size, all of his sharp, designer clothes must be tailor-made while flattering his figure. Like the rest of his kind, Thomas is very proud of his looks and everything must be neatly put together. Unlike most Deava, Thomas has the Passable merit which allows him to interact with the outside world without causing a Masquerade violation.

Role-Playing Notes: You are a powerful force of personality and you know it. Putting up a cheerful, supportive and charming vernier, you can make people feel welcome or intimidated. Deep down you have a strong, calculating mind that desires to have everything run smoothly to make yourself feel powerful and entertained. You quite enjoy your "brother's" theory of the Kindred being the secret masters of the humans so the game of charm and manipulation is especially fun. Sometimes you'll even playfully flex your muscles to make women swoon or intimidate people.

There's just one little problem: the nightmares. For the last few years ha've been weighing heavily upon you and if you don't find a solution or at least a way to combat them, you will soon gain a derangement (Obsession: Finding Eliza). If you weren't so good at covering things up, the world could see how much that fact scares you.

Merits\Flaws: Unbondable, Nightmares, Passable

Relationships: Given how long Eliza's spawn were stuck with their sire and had no one to rely on, but each other, they all view and treat each other like siblings. Even going as far as to call each other brother or sister.

Nico: There's still a bit of a class divide between the two since Thomas was born in high society and Nico spent her Mortal days as a street rat. (That old British class system never quite left him.) Both are just fine working together, but it doesn't stop him from occasionally giving his eldest sister a hard time like any brother would do when he's bored.

Lucca: Falling into Noddist belief, it has caused problems with the brothers on numerous occasions. While Thomas is thankful that Lucca's beliefs have given the Bloodline more of an identity and purpose, Thomas sees him as occasionally self-righteous.

Adelle: To him, Adelle is the baby of the family. Just that nice little sister who knows how to keep her distance and play along in her siblings' shadows. Since Adelle spent her time staked to a wall when Eliza ruled over them, Thomas does feels a bit protective of her and underestimates her as a result.

The Fifth Childe: Sometimes Thomas dreams of him and his message is not that different from their sire's. He is a troublesome little brother must be found at once.

Nicolette “Nico” Baudelaire

History: For the ten years that Nico was a Mortal, she knew all too well what it was like to be used. First, it was the owner of the orphanage who liked little girls, then it was the middle-aged man whose idea of charity was forcing children to steal for him while he enjoyed the profits and finally it was Eliza. She seemed so different from the others who promised a good life. Eliza seemed so nice and Nico always wanted a big sister of her own that made it so promising. Sure she could handle the teenaged body and extra abilities, but the bloodlust and unnatural hunger were what scared her the most. In her own twisted way, Eliza meant well with blood bonding Nico, but to the childe, it meant nothing more than manipulation and enslavement all over again. For a while, Nico was able to tolerate her sire thanks to all the presents, games, sisterly attention and occasional parties they'd have. Having Lucca there as a fellow sibling in slavery helped ease the pain, but as the years rolled by, even that couldn't help anymore.

Nico figured that maybe what her sire needed was a prince just like the princesses in the fairy tales needed for their happily ever after to happen. Using the details from Eliza's stories of the suitors she had as a Mortal, Nico searched for the man who could represent the best aspects of them all. Coming across a young nobleman named Alain, she happily told her sire about him and believed that Alain's embrace would make things better. Instead, Alain's new form was that of a woman and it sent Eliza into an even further downward spiral that almost killed Nico. Feeling both guilt and resentment, Nico did what she could to help Thomas free them.

As soon as the Bloodline could get some footing, Nico (with Thomas' help) found her former employer, pummeled him and took over his operation. In time, she was able to mold the children into an elite force that would eventually be called The Cartel.

Current Status: Out of all of Eliza's children, Nico's focus has always been the most single-minded (as in keeping The Cartel running). For now, she is fine with letting her siblings handle their missing sire. To keep her mind off of the mess that Eliza has made, she is mainly focusing her energy on helping the Prince of Paris (François Villon) try to drive off another of the Anarachs' attempt on his life. If she can play this properly, she could get some rather nice prestige for her and her Bloodline.

Image: Nico would be best described as being pixie-like. Her cute appearance, long, pointed ears; twinkling blue eyes, pink pixie-cut and matching pink skin (with black spirals) has easily made people mistake her for one of the Fae. This is something she will take advantage of by appealing to the aspect of the Fae that attracts those that she wants to impress (by either appearing cute or more refined).

Role-Playing Notes: While you have definitely grown-up from the betrayed little girl you once were, there is still that need of security and stability you once desired. That's why you are the most dedicated of your siblings to the Camarilla and will do what you can support them. So push away any accusations of the Camarilla being the manipulators you hated as a Mortal. There may be some truth, but this time things are on your terms and you now have the power to do something with your life. You take a lot of pride in what you do because this is your niche in the family. While you can be manipulative and social, you prefer to leave the politics to your older brother and do what you do best and get the job done.

As for your sire, you feel almost like a conflicted child. At first, you resent her for tricking you into her mad little world, then you don't for her misguided attempts of sisterhood she gave you, then you remember how your kind gesture of giving her a prince backfired and almost killed you and repeat. (After all, you do have a tendency to hold a grudge.) You just find it better to let Thomas handle that stuff.

Thomas: Class differences and sibling rivalry aside, both siblings know that they need each other to survive. It still doesn't stop her from seeing him as arrogant and egotistical.

Lucca: If it wasn't for him, Nico would've tried to strangle Thomas and her sire a long time ago. Given that they were the ones that were more heavily underneath Eliza's thumb, she is more willing to let her little brother's "eccentricities" off.

Adelle: While she knows that it wasn't Adelle’s fault that her embrace made Eliza even crazier, there are times Nico does feel a little resentful toward her sister.

The Fifth Childe: Nico tries not to think of Michael since it reminds her that not everything is stable with the Bloodline. Now if his presence is improving Eliza's sanity, it might make Nico look more favorably toward him.

Lucca Vasser

History: Born to a family of laborers, Lucca's childhood was a hard one. The after-effects of war, the harsh conditions, disease and occasional famines forced him to see his family and friends fall one-by-one. For each death, with tears falling from his eyes, he would turn to the church to remind himself that Heaven was there for the faithful. Swallowing his sorrow, Lucca worked as hard as ever, ignoring the criticisms of the church and the royal family and practicing his singing.

Expecting nothing more than a humble life of servitude and family of his own, fate decided to prove Lucca wrong. Hearing his songs of praise one night caught Eliza's attention and fondly reminded her of the choirs at the churches she went to as a Mortal. Just as she moved in for a closer look, her veil was torn open, revealing the face she so long tried to hide. Unlike her father, Lucca was in awe of her beauty (believing she was an angel) and told her. That's when she knew that she had to embrace him.

Learning about his new state in life did bring a lot of mixed feelings to Lucca to the point that he constantly pondered things to help him through his time with Eliza. Is it really possible to be "twice-damned"? Does Christ's taking in the sins of the world also apply to Vampires? Watching over his sire like a nursemaid, gave Lucca a lot of time to think and reconsider his set in stone beliefs. He is thankful for that.

When his family got accepted into the Camarilla, Lucca hoped he could get more of the answers he was seeking. The problem was that he soon learned that he had to be careful how you went at it. Thankfully, one of the Toreador learned of his lovely singing voice and promised to help educate him if he would perform for her. Sadly, the only thing she saw in him was a cute little toy that she could show off. Though he felt used, he did find some benefits (along with the pats on the back for his singing) and that was the awakening of his own charismatic and manipulative talents. Playing the role of the curious little bumpkin, some of the faction's scholars thought it was cute to educate a lower class member of a Bloodline.

Sure he had to act like the faithful, eccentric little helper and even do some degrading chores or missions for his betters that made others think of him as a bootlicker, but the benefits outweighed it. In 1820, his latest Ventrue mentor decided to share some noddist fragments with him. He was only to make some copies with a printing press that the mentor had no idea how to use, but instead, he embraced Caine's advice on how his children were to act as vampires.

After five years of study and pondering, Lucca began to develop a theory of the Kindred's true place on this earth as the secret leaders of man. It was the "glorious burden" for their kind to be both hidden and influential to the Mortals. Knowing this would appeal to the Ventrue's ego, he convinced his mentor to see it as his own idea and Lucca only being a muse. That way Lucca could continue his studies and philosophies with less pressure and his mentor taking the blunt if something went wrong.

To this day, Lucca has become a bit of a secret philosopher among the Camarilla who has given some form to his bloodline. With help from his siblings, their role as the faithful, clever servant has served the bloodline well.

Current Status: Lucca moved to Bogota, Colombia twenty years ago to help the Prince create Servants of his own and enhance and spread his studies. So far, he is making some steady progress.

Image: Lucca possesses a more ghostly aspect to his beauty. His pale skin and hair have hints of blue as if he is composed of moonlight. Coupled with a gentle face, his appearance puts those at ease. He favors simple clothing, much like his days as a peasant.

Role-Playing Notes: Your time as a Vampire has changed you from the Mortal you once were. While you sometimes miss your simpler days, you know is for the greater good not only for your Bloodline's survival but for all Kindred. Like the Book of Revelations, those that follow the words of a higher power will be spared (or at least looked in favor) when Gehenna arrives.

Your new life as a Vampire is an endless source of fascination for you to the point that you are often building endless ponderings that make you come off as a bit eccentric to others. In fact, you even learned all of the starting disciplines of the Nosferatu and Toreador to better understand where your parent clans come from.

While your dignity has had to take a few hits and there are times you feel a little guilty for using people, you tell yourself that this is for a greater good. Choose the most naive, gullible and/or egotistical people to share your theories with and let them take the credit to keep the heat from getting on you. If anyone calls you on your submission, just play the role of the sacrificing goody-goody. After all, you are part of a sacred mission and that is rewarding enough.

Thomas: There's always been a bit of tension between the two brothers. Since his older brother uses his talents more to benefit himself, Lucca finds his brother a bit selfish and not seeing the bigger picture.

Nico: At first Lucca saw his older sister more like a little one when she had the mentality of preteen, but that has changed as she got older. What she does is a necessary evil to ensure the Daeva's usefulness and survival.

Adelle: Being the odd one out of the family, Lucca does worry about his little sister. Though it does sometimes go to the point of underestimating her, she is a diamond in the rough that could use some polish.

The Fifth Childe: Rumors of Michael's existence fascinate Lucca and he would like to find him.

Adelle Dubeaux (AKA Alain)

History: Ever since he was little, Alain knew that he was different. No matter what he did or how much he prayed and tried to be the good son his aristocratic parents wanted him to be, he knew that he should've been born a woman. For years he would throw his pain aside and put up a manly air, gently flirting with any pretty girl he came across, but just stopping short before things could get physical. Everyone was just so convinced that Alain was a cheerful, well-mannered young man that his suicide would've come as a shock to them. That is if Nico and Eliza didn't kidnap and drag him to their haven.

What happened between his kidnapping and embrace was mostly a blur to him. The two things he remembers was the feeling of pure joy when his transformation gave him the beautiful female body he always wanted and then being staked to the wall by an enraged Eliza when he tried to hug her in thanks. Once the Camarilla freed him and brought him up to speed on what happened, he changed his name to Adelle and was ready to start life as a woman.

While living as a woman was the easy part, it was coming to terms with her undead state and losing her family in the French Revolution that was the hardest. So Adelle opted to step back and help her siblings whenever she could in hopes of building her identity. Taking bits and pieces from each of them, she has now created a set of beliefs not only for herself but for the Kindred as a whole. Well, at least she's pretty sure about it.

Current Status: After hearing that the fifth childe was seen in western America, Adelle has moved there to see if she can find him. After years of being protected and underestimated, she is determined to prove herself to her siblings. The second reason is to test her new identity out in a place that Thomas and Nico don't have so much control over. She has been able to make a name for herself as a harpy.

Image: Adelle is like an original, 1950's Barbie doll (with a bit of a china doll thrown in) come to life. Her sultry, glamorous features and sense of fashion can't help, but to draw people in. When she's not using Mask of a Thousand Faces, her skin is as smooth and white as a china doll's, making it look like she is made of the same materials. (Though it is still flesh.) Her dark blond hair reaches her shoulders and lately, she has been curling the ends up.

Role-Playing Notes: While you agree with Lucca about the Kindred's role as the secret masters of humanity, you're not totally sure about the whole Antediluvian aspect. You prefer Mortals coming you with their respect than fear like the Sabbat does. While you fancy yourself as a benefactor, you are quite ruthless to the Mortals that mess with you. To you, a more social outlet helps you get better control over your beast.

Act friendly and charming to both Kindred and Kine from fledgling Nosferatus to old money CEOs, because the more allies and contacts you can get, the better. Encourage loyalty, but also subtly hint at what can happen to those who even think of betraying you. You definitely want to prove your worth not only to your siblings but to yourself as well. As for your sire, you are forever grateful to her for what she has done even at the cost of her sanity (which you feel a bit guilty about.)

As for your past as a man, you’re over the pain that you once felt. Alain is water under the bridge so you don’t make a big deal out of it. Though you do have a theory that the wiring in your brain overridden what your embrace would’ve given you. It’s a need to know basis since you have a new life now. Though you do feel empathy towards other transsexuals who are suffering from having the wrong bodies.

9th Generation Daeva

Sire: Eliza Allison

Nature/Demeanor: Chameleon/Benefactor

Embrace: 1745

Apparent Age: Early 30s

Str/Dex/Sta: 2/4/3

Cha/Man/App: 5 (cult of personality)/4/4

Thomas: Adelle is thankful to him for not letting her stay staked to that wall and watching over her. Because of this, she is the most likely to stand up for him when accusations are thrown around. This does not mean she is blind to the more questionable things he does.

Nico: While Adelle understands some of Nico's frustrations towards her, it can be trying at times. She just wishes things were better for them, even if part of her believes that may never happen.

Lucca: Despite his support and the enlightening conversations they have together, there's something that always seemed a little odd with him. As if his studies might have more control over him than he does of them.

The Fifth Childe: Like a sibling that is glad to no longer be the baby of the family, Adelle has been very dedicated to finding him. Not just to prove her worth, but to also ease her mind with the hope that Eliza might be getting better.

Black Swan

"This is for every Kine who looked at me with disgust. For every pig of a man who rejected me. Now it's my chance to return the pain."

History: Life can be hard when you don't look like everyone else, especially if you're a woman. Born with a nasty case of neurofibromatosis type 1, every day was a reminder of that. From the constant seizures to the stares of disgust to never being able to properly wear and enjoy pretty dresses and makeup like other girls.

You tried your best to build your personality and intelligence, but you just seemed to fall short no matter how hard you tried. Your disfigured body kept you from getting a job, not being treated with disgust and even your male associates (no matter how much they say they cared) weren't that romantically interested in you. Over time, bitterness, envy, and hate boiled inside you until you decided to try and end your life.

But your sire gave you a better offer. Seeing how your feelings could be used as a weapon, he offered you the chance to have the very things you were denied.

Concept: The world rejected you for just existing and now you finally have the chance to show it what you can do. Your mood has improved since your embrace, but the painful memories of your old life still haunt you. So you've now focused on directing your energy into screwing with the Mortals as a whole.

Role-Playing Notes: Now that you're no longer human, you've now entered a beautiful, dangerous and fascinating new world. You embrace the Daeva's idea of Kindred superiority and with your new found confidence, you will play judge with the Kine and play nice with the Kindred.

Unless something gets you really mad, you keep a reserved, dainty demeanor to throw others off from what you are really thinking. Once you get mad, your spitefulness comes in nasty words and even petty vengeance if you're pushed enough. Though you do have a sincere soft spot for the ugly, disfigured or outcasts (regardless of species) since they are a reminder of what you once were.

Equipment: Pretty, feminine wardrobe; make-up, self-defense keychain, mace

Street Mother

"Remember my dearest children, that true beauty is always within."

History: Beauty can be a very powerful tool to get you what you want if you play your cards right and you knew how to play that game. Big-breasted and gorgeous, you could get even happily married men to turn their heads when you walked by. Combined with your charm and ambition, you were able to snag a rich and naive husband at eighteen that adored and gave you whatever you wanted.

Eight years and one son later, you grew bored and discovered an even richer and better-looking man that you believed that you had wrapped around your finger. So when your son and husband saw you having sex with your new beau, it didn't bother you one bit when you left the both of them to dry. That's when karma hit, over time your new husband's true colors began to show as a cruel, controlling and abusive man. Not even all the money, fancy parties, and prestige could make you happy; especially after he coldly dumped you for a younger heiress. Looking back at your first husband's love and devotion made you realize how much you loved him in return, but it was for naught. Your betrayal drove him to suicide and taught your son to distrust all women to the point that he took his hate out on two of them before escaping arrest at fourteen.

The worst was yet to come when the half-crazed Nosferatu that is now your son dragged you into an alleyway. He vowed to make you "as hideous on the outside as you were on the inside" and began draining your blood. The rest of your embrace was a blur except that when you woke-up, you became something else.

Concept: Fate has decided to give you a second chance. Instead of spending the rest of your unlife as your son's abused, blood bound Kindred slave, your sire knew there was "something about you" that drove him to save you. In return, you have embraced the lessons of the Inner Light and start doing the one thing you never did in life: give.

Role-Playing Notes: As a follower of the Inner Light, you are a shepherd to the homeless and the rest of society's throwaways. They are your children (regardless of age) and you are their dark mother who guides and protects them as a mystical figure. You are an obscure urban legend among the Mortals so make sure to play up on that.

Do not mistake this as being a goody-goody for your wrath is great to those that would dare hurt your children, nor are you afraid of using some skills from your manipulator past to get what you need. Your unlife is the key to your redemption and nothing will stop you from achieving it.

Luckily, your son is a member of the Sabbat so you don't have to face him when handling the Nosferatu (and occasional Bone Gnawer) in the city. While you pity him for what he has become, you have a feeling that death may be his only salvation.

Equipment: Herd of homeless people, lead pipe, hooded cloak with pockets inside for carrying things.

The Penitent Warrior

"You may call my faction scum, but at least we keep our humanity. Now leave before I change my mind."

History: You always had to do everything yourself. Whether it being the man of the house when your father died to carrying your loser high school football team to victory, you took each and every burden with a stiff upper lip and a strong sense of pride. This wasn't out of egotism, but a strong desire to get the job done no matter what.

So far it was working out. Your hard work and perseverance paid off as you breezed through your stint in the army and later your career as a SWAT team leader. Sure you weren't the most likable person and you wondered how your wife put up with you, but it was a good life until the Sabbat came.

It was just supposed to be a simple raid, but to your horror, it was nothing more than a ruse for the local Bishop to try out his newly fleshcrafted monsters. Pushing aside your fear, you lead your SWAT team into battle with a great start until the creatures decided not to hold back. As your comrades were being slaughtered and you were badly injured, you were about to let yourself fall on to death's door until you heard your wife's voice. Seeing her grafted to the largest one drove you into a frenzy that helped you plow through several of the creatures. By the time your future sire and his catorie arrived, you were a battered, bloody mess that kept fighting no matter what.

While the catorie finished-off the rest of the monsters, it was you that put the final bullet into your wife's head when she begged you to end her suffering. Impressed with your bravery and drive, your sire asked you as you laid dying if you would like to "continue the battle" and you said yes.

Concept: You faithfully follow the Camarilla as both a warrior and broken-hearted man. The horrors that fell upon your wife and comrades haunts and drives you to make sure this never happens to anyone else again. You constantly push the physical and mental limits of your undead state to learn new battle tactics, strategies and weaponry for the world needs you more than ever.

Role-Playing Notes: You are both the knight and the pawn. You command respect through your actions and abilities, often taking the role of leader in everything you do. Others may think you're not all that likable, but you are not here to make friends.

While you are definitely not blind to the Camarilla's own dirty deeds, they are a lesser evil compared to the Sabbat. In your eyes, the Sabbat are nothing more than sadistic children (at best) who need to be put down. As for the independent clans and bloodlines, they're just "fence-sitters" (you're smart enough not to say that to their faces).

You see yourself as the Mortals' guardian. If you have to let them be manipulated or feed on them, that's something they're going to have to understand no matter what. Afterall, you’re a servant as well.

Equipment: Riot gear, guns, stakes, books on war strategies, bowie knife, your wedding ring
