Honoured Mr. Lazlo!

Thank you warmly for your kind wishes for the New Year. I am returning them most heartily and hope that the year 1896 will bring you much success within your chosen calling. Please forgive me should you receive this letter a little late but I had an extraordinary amount of work to do and only very little time for my private correspondence.

Her Royal Highness, the Princess,^[1] to whom I conveyed your congratulations, also asks me to thank you for them.

Our move to the Taschenberg Palais has now finally been achieved. The portrait you painted of Her Royal Highness [possibly 111454] has been hung in the Prince’s^[2] office. The next time you should be in Dresden would you please have another look at the picture and rework a few details. Particularly the area under the mouth needs some corrections.
