Dear Mr de Laszlo –
I was near your house on Sunday so called on the chance of seeing you but you were painting.
I am sorry to say I have had no success in finding you any oak panelling suitable for your smaller studio although I have tried about half a dozen firms. I do not think you will get it unless you have Jacobean panelling – which is not suitable for the building.
I enclose a rough sketch of my suggestion of dealing with it which I got out after measuring up the studio to see how much was required. You could have the oak treated to look exactly like old oak. I should be very pleased to call and discuss this.
I have had no luck with the old stone columns though I have tried most of the big London Contractors and one at Bath.
I enclose a letter from Sanders and Co who suggest making these in artificial stone. Would you like me to get a quotation?
With best wishes for Christmas and the New Year to you and your family.
Yours sincerely
G. Berkeley Wills.
