Get To 50 Activities
All activities should be completed and handed in on Friday. Activities that require initials should be done on your recording sheet. Activities that permit it can be done on a Google docs. If you do something on Google docs please indicate this on your recording sheet and share it with me by Friday. Keep this document for reference each week.
On Friday you must hand in your assignments in addition to completing the weekly forum to show where your points come from. Remember if you do more than 60 points you will earn tickets.
30 Points
1. Short story- write a short story using as many of your spellings words as you can.
2. Comic Spelling*- Create a comic strip with dialogue that contains 5 or more of your spelling words.
3. Picture It- Write your words using objects around your house and then take a picture of them. (For example: us legos, spaghetti, eraser’s, etc)
20 Points
4. Word Search- Create a word search on puzzlemaker.com. Find your words.
5. Sentences – Write 8 to 10 sentences using a spelling word in each of those sentences. Strong 5th grade sentences
6. Write a paragraph using at least 8 words in the paragraph.
7. Write silly sentences for at least 8 to 10 words. These sentences have to use the word in the correct way but it can be written about funny content.
EX: The sailor went bouncing on a pogo stick on a polka dot ship.
8. Dictionary- Look up 8 words in the dictionary and record the definition and part of speech.
9. Shop and Spell*- Using a workshop see how much money each of your words is worth.
10. Poem- Create a poem that contains at least five of your spelling words.
11. What’s in the News- Write a newspaper article that has at least 8 of your spelling words in it.
12. SpellingCity- Go to www.spellingcity.com input your list of words and play at least one game using your words. (Initial’s or screen shot needed.)

13. Triangle words*-Using a worksheet write each word in a pyramid. The first letter in row one then the first two letters in row two, etc.
14. ABC Order- Put your words in ABC order.
15. Rainbow Words- Write each of your spelling words with each letter in a different color using crayons or colored pencils.
16. Newspaper hunt- Find 5 of your words in the newspaper, cut those out and glue them down different piece of paper.
10 Points
17. 3x Each- Write all of your words word three times each
18. Type it- Type all of your spelling words using a different font each time.
19. Side Walk- When weather permits write your words outside using sidewalk chalk. (*Parent signature required)
20. Flash Cards- Create flash cards of your spelling words to help learn them.
21. Highlight- Write each of your spelling words and highlight the vowels in once color and consonants in another.
22. Practice Quiz- Have someone quiz you on your words to see how many you know already. (Initial’s needed)
23. Hands on Practice- Write your spelling words in a unique way 3 time for each words. Some options are sky writing, tracing them in sand or rice, writing on sandpaper, whip cream or other ideas.
*New ideas can be added all the time. Please tell Mrs. Richter of any new thoughts you have of ways to practice your spelling each week*
