Lessons will be suspended if payment is more than 30 days past due. Lessons will only resume if payment is completed.

If payment is 45 days past due, lesson slots will be opened for new students.  Parents are still liable for tuition payments until the end of registration term.  Lessons may be resumed if payment is completed and if lesson slot is still available.

Students who wish to withdraw during contract terms will pay for the number of lessons conducted plus a $99.50 withdrawal fee.

Cancellation of Group Class

The Moosic School reserves the right to cancel group classes due to unforeseen circumstances or insufficient enrollment.  A 48-hour advance notice will be given and students may transfer to another program or receive a full refund.  A student who gives a notification of withdrawal at least 72 hours prior to the start of a term will receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee.

Attendance

Students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons and classes on time. Any time missed due to lateness will not be made up.  If a teacher is late, missed time will be made up.

Cancellations and Make-up Lessons

<For students registered on the school-year basis>

You are eligible for a maximum of TWO absences per semester if at least 24 hours advance notification is given to your teacher. Any lesson missed after the second absence will not be rescheduled.  Absence without an advance notification will not be rescheduled.  Make-up lesson time is arranged between you and your teacher.  Please note that make-up lessons might not occur at the most convenient time or date as you might have normally wished for.  Missed lessons have no cash or credit value.

If your teacher needs to miss a lesson, your teacher will arrange a make-up lesson or The Moosic School will arrange for a substitute teacher.

Exception: You can reschedule lessons that are canceled due to inclement weather or power outage if you have not used up eligible two make-ups during the semester.

A make-up lesson will not be rescheduled if missed by students.  There is no make-up for group classes, rehearsals or recitals.

Students who miss more than 6 lessons in any semester will not be able to reserve a lesson time for the following year in our priority period for returning students.  Such students may be required to wait until the start of regular registration for new students in July.

<For students registered on pay-as-you-go basis>

Please note that lesson time priority will be given to students who are registered on the school year basis.

In order to reschedule a lesson, you must notify your teacher of your absence at least 24 hours in advance.  Absence without an advance notification will not be rescheduled and there is no refund for missed lessons.

Inclement weather and emergency closure:

Classes / lessons will be canceled in case of emergency such as inclement weather, power outage, etc.  Cancellation of classes / lessons will be announced through email and/or phone.

If you used up two eligible make-ups during the semester, lessons that are canceled due to inclement weather, power outage, etc will not be made up and a refund will not be given.

Parents’ responsibility:

Parents are fully responsible for the conduct and safety of their children. The Moosic School is not liable for accidents or injuries sustained on its grounds.

Parental involvement for students under the age of 8 is strongly recommended.  Please review the assignment book with your child and encourage him/her to practice at home.  Younger students whose parents are actively involved in daily practice at home normally improve more quickly than those are not.

Students’ Expectations

Students are expected to practice at home every day for the same length as lesson time (ideally), but at least 15-20min a day.

Students are expected to bring all the materials including assignment book and books at each lesson.
