The result of the draw at the Empire Ball held at Lord Leverhulme’s house at Hampstead on April 30 in aid of the People’s League of Health was as follows:—Ticket No. 1016, Lady Baldwin, 37, Cavendish Square, diamond bar brooch, presented by Messrs. Cartier, New Bond Street; ticket No. 102, Mrs. Hartman, 58, Brompton Square, S.W., motor-cycle presented by Sprosen, Limited, 111, Great Portland Street, W. In the pageant competition the judges, Sir Cecil Harcourt Smith and Mr. John Walter awarded the first prize to the costume of “New Zealand,” worn by Miss Walker. Prizes were also won by Miss Lilian Braithwàte (“Mrs. Siddons”), Mr. J. Fisher White (“Wellington”), Miss Anne Russell (“Queen Elizabeth”), Miss Strangman (“Wembley Exhibition”), Mrs. T. H. Kelly (“Lady La Tour”), Major Kanwan Shamsher Bahadur Singh de Debra Dun (“India of Old)”, Miss Viola Tree (“Boadicea”), Miss Frances Carson (“Mirth”), Mr. Paul de Laszlo (“Henry VIII.,”), Miss Lowe (“Australia”), and Miss Linden (“Canada”). The winner of the first prize will have her portrait painted by Mr. Philip de Laszlo [13294].
