A Note from the Principal

Dear Mountain View Families,

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! I am extremely proud to continue serving as the Principal of Mountain View School.  This is an exciting time for Mountain View to welcome new families and staff members that have joined our amazing team.  We look forward to accomplishing all the great things we have planned for this school year that will ensure the success of each student.  In order to obtain a quality education we must all approach each day with the readiness to learn, putting our best character in the actions and words we choose, and motivate ourselves and others to do their very best work.  We must utilize our own talents and be a collaborative team to master one common goal- Excellence.  Together, we can achieve excellence with putting forth our very best each day.

The Mountain View team is committed to continuing our efforts in providing innovative learning opportunities for all students.   The staff takes an active role in Professional Learning Communities where they utilize a variety of data sources to plan targeted instruction that will enhance our students in all academic and behavioral areas.  As we expand the learning possibilities for your children at school, we implore you to make the commitment to build life-long study habits at home, reinforce math skills by completing homework, and read every night focusing on fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.  Remember to keep the lines of communication open between home and school. Continue to monitor the learning progress of your child by reviewing their class work, checking grades frequently and looking through their agendas.

On behalf of the entire Mountain View staff, welcome to the beginning of another stellar year. We encourage you to join us on this journey as we soar to new heights.

Mountain View is looking for parents, guardians and community members who want to get involved!  If you are interested in joining the school’s Site Council (five meetings a year), the Safety Committee (four meetings a year), or being a Mountain View representative on the Superintendent’s Parent Council (three meetings a year), please contact the Office Manager, Meghan St. Germain.

We highly encourage all parents and guardians to create their parent portal account now.  Once created you will have access to your child's attendance record, current grades, and pay online for field trips, athletics, etc.  Each parent can have their own account and can see all of their children from one account.  You will need one of your children's student ID numbers to sign up.  You can find this on the census verification form that will go home on the first day or you may contact the front office.

Message from the Assistant Principal

Greetings Mountain View Families!

I am truly honored to have been chosen to serve the Mountain View community in the role of Assistant Principal. I believe that it is the responsibility of the school community to create and foster learning environments conducive to ensure learning for all students. We have been working diligently this summer to prepare for the new year and I cannot wait to get to know you and your students!

Please know that my door is always open! This year, we will be intently focusing on attendance, and positive behavior supports through the PLC process.

To our amazing students, plan to make this your best year yet! I challenge to accept the following:

  1. Come to school everyday: you do not want to miss a thing!
  2. Go to bed at a reasonable time: be rested so you are ready to learn!
  3. Eat a healthy breakfast and lunch: gotta keep that mind sharp!
  4. Be ready to Learn each day: be a productive and positive member of the MVS Community!
  5. Review the Dysart Student and Parent Handbook: so that you are aware of the expectations!
  6. Make yourself proud: set specific goals and monitor your progress! (A teacher or a parent can help you with this!)
  7. Ask Questions: if you are not understanding. Teachers love to answer questions!
  8. Turn in your Assignments: on-time and complete!
  9. Set up a specific place at home to do your homework each night (This area should be equipped with paper and pencils so you will be ready to get to work!)

We have high expectations here at Mountain View. We truly believe that our students, staff and families are the best in the Dysart District! Together, we are a true team of excellence! Thank you, for your partnership and let’s make the 2015-16 school year our best yet!

Privacy Issues

Often the front office deals with issues involving FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act).  We are respectfully asking that parents limit their time waiting in the front office area to 5-10 minutes during school hours so that the privacy of other parents and students is not violated.  We appreciate your help in this.
