Sceanrio 1

John is a 7th grade boy who loves math.  He likes to work alone but if he has to, he will share his ideas.  He prefers being directed by the teacher as to what he needs to learn in math and likes using skill worksheets or online games to help him understand his learning.  He would rather know everything he needs to solve the problem before he attempts to find a solution.

Scenario 2

Sally however loves nothing more than coming to math to solve problems with her friends.  Often they don’t have all the information or skills they need to solve it, but she likes talking with her peers, using the internet for help and trying different solutions until they come up with an answer that works. Afterwards if Sally needs to, she likes to go back and practice the new skill or same skill using manipulatives, or problem worksheets or playing games with a partner.
