YOUTH BASEBALL RULES

TEE BALL (AGES 3-4)

Purpose:

This is a skill-building, fun learning experience where young children learn the very basics of the sport.

Batting:

Every player on the team will bat each inning. The final batter will hit the ball and run the bases to finish the at-bat. The half-inning will end when the final player from the team has batted.

Play:              

The team in the field will place every player from their team on the field during play.  There will be no outs during the innings, however the players are still taught and encouraged to properly field the ball.

Score:          

We will not keep score.

Umpires:      

Coaches will act as umpires

Equipment:

Please bring your equipment to the games!  You will need your bats, balls and batting tees.  

INTRO TO COACH PITCH (6 AND UNDER)

Purpose:      

This is the transition between T Ball and Coach Pitch.  Players get to learn more skills of baseball and learn how to hit the ball from a coach’s throw.

Batting:

Every player on the team will bat each inning.  Each player gets 5 pitches from the Coach.  If the ball has not been put into play, the tee will be brought out and the player can hit the ball from the tee. The final batter will hit the ball and run the bases to finish the at-bat. The half-inning will end when the final player from the team has batted.

Play:

The team in the field will place every player from their team on the field during play.  Runners can be called out and will return to the dug-out.

Score:          

We will not keep score.

Umpires:      

Coaches will act as umpires on the field.

Equipment:

Please bring your bats and balls.  Batting tees will be available at the games.  Get it from the booth if you don’t see it.

COACH PITCH (9 AND UNDER)

Purpose:

Players at this level begin to put into action more of the skills and rules of baseball that they have learned in previous seasons of play.

Batting:

Every player on the team will bat each inning.  Each player will receive a maximum of 5 pitches from the Coach.  If the player has not put the ball into play after 5 pitches, he will be out and return to the dug-out. The half-inning will end when the final player from the team either gets out or hits the ball and runs the bases to finish the at-bat.

Play:

The team on the field will place 10 players on the field if possible. No player may sit out more than 1 half- inning per game.  Runners can be called out and will return to the dug-out.

Score:

Score will not be kept.

Umpires:

Coaches will act as umpires on the field.

KID PITCH (12 AND UNDER)

Purpose:      

Players at this level begin to learn more advanced fielding techniques and also pitching.

Batting:        

Batters are ruled out if they strike out (3 strikes) or are tagged out before they reach base.  Because our games are played in 90 minutes, every player will bat per inning.

Play:              

The team on the field will place at least 9 players on the field if possible. No player may sit out more than 1 half- inning per game.  Runners can be called out and will return to the dug-out.

Score:          

Score will not be kept.

Umpires:      

The league will provide an umpire.
