If bought beforehand for €55 you can get a return train ticket to Warsaw.

There are 3 trains a day, the trip takes 5½ hours. It goes well with any means of travel from Warsaw to Lviv.

A daily direct flight from Vienna to Lviv exists, but costs over €500.

The low cost Wizzair flight Bratislava — Kyiv may also come in useful.

Consider departing from Budapest.

Hungary

Ukraine International and Wizzair fly from Budapest to Kyiv.

6-7 hours by car from Budapest to Lviv

14 hours by train, there is overnight sleeper coach from Budapest to Lviv.

Bi-weekly direct flights from Valencia (Tuesday, Saturday) and Alicante (Monday, Thursday) to Ivano-Frankivsk, it costs under €180 for a return ticket.

There are new direct flights from Poznan and Bydgoszcz to Lviv from LOT, they cost under €30 one way.

Warsaw

  1. Fastest+cheapest combo = to Przemysl by train, and then cross the border with instructions below. Schedule http://www.rozklad-pkp.pl/ 
    Buy your tickets beforehand online — for Polish part at     https://www.intercity.pl/pl/, for cross-border at booking.uz.gov.ua
  2. Check your dates, LOT return flight can get as cheap as €100.
  3. There’s new direct overnight coach to Lviv, should cost ~ €50, can buy e.g. at polrail.com
  4. There are few direct buses to Lviv, the trip takes 9‒10 hours, costs under €20.
  5. If the bus schedule doesn’t fit you, or train is preferable — take direct train (2⅓hours, €8.6) to Lublin, and follow instructions below.

Krakow

  1. Take a train to Przemysl, and then pick your option of crossing the border from instructions below. Overall trip under 8 hours. Buy your tickets beforehand online — for Polish part at https://www.intercity.pl/pl/, for cross-border at booking.uz.gov.ua
  2. There are few direct buses for ~ €20, trip takes 8‒9 hours. Tickets and schedules available from ecolines, bus.com.ua. Be wary that bus can spend up to 10 extra hours waiting in line on the border.

Lublin

Bus to Lviv takes ~ 5 hours, costs ~ €10, schedule available at http://lubelskiedworce.pl/#timetable. Call them http://lubelskiedworce.pl/#contact to check if the schedule is correct and to buy ticket.

Rzeszow

  1. By public transport you have 2 options:
  1. Take a train to Premysl (check train schedule at PKP website). And then follow directions below.
  2. Wait for a direct bus or train, be aware that there are not more than 2 buses and 1 train a day.
    You can check the schedule and book a ticket for a bus at     this website, or other one.

Przemysl

  1. There are 3 daytime trains on Przemysl — Lviv route. Departs from Przemysl at 13:10, 15:45, 18:09, ticket costs €8 – 13. Trip lasts 2‒3 hours. This way is the most reliable, you wouldn’t have to wait in line on the border.
  2. There are regular buses Przemyśl — Lviv.
  3. If you are a seasoned traveller on a budget, the cheapest option would be to take a small bus from the railway station in Przemysl to the border, then cross a border on foot, and from Ukrainian side take marshrutka to Lviv.
    Be aware that this option would require you communicating both Polish and Ukrainian, so if you’re into it you’ll need to research it further on the Internet by yourself, e.g. starting from     wikitravel.

Turkey

Direct flights from Istanbul from €72. (Pegasus, Atlas Global, Turkish Airlines, Ukraine International)

Ankara

Both Ukraine International and Pegasus have direct flights on Kyiv — Ankara route.

Pegasus flight schedule goes well with Motorsich Kyiv — Lviv flight from the same airport.

Direct flights from Tel Aviv to Lviv twice a week (Ukraine International Airlines).

Direct flight from Tel Aviv to Vinnytsia once a week.

Is well served by direct flights by Ryanair to Rzeszow.

Ivano-Frankivsk

Поскольку горнолыжный сезон уже начался, а Ивано-Франковск находится по дороге со Львова на Буковель — можно найти попутчиков на BlablaCar, или подсесть в таксибус.

Use BlablaCar to get to Lviv from Ivano-Frankivsk (2 hours). There are also plenty of buses and minibuses. Trains are also available, some of them run faster than a car.

Ужгород, Мукачево

Автобусы едут примерно так же, как поезда, даже зимой.

Билет на региональный экспресс (электричку) можно купить заранее, но не раньше чем за 10 дней до отправления на booking.uz.gov.ua.

Киев

Besides well-served by all flight search engines flights by UIA — there is also Motor Sich Airlines, operating from inner-city Zhuliany airport(tickets start from €45 one way).

There are 2 express trains a day that cost €15, runs for 5 hours. Several overnight options. Tickets and  schedule available at booking.uz.gov.ua.

Утренний и вечерний экспресс (5 часов), много вариантов ночного переезда.

Винница

The train takes 5 to 7 hours from Vinnytsia to Lviv, check schedule at http://uz.gov.ua/en/passengers/timetable/

Крым

  1. Через Новоалексеевку — в дороге ~30 часов:
  1. Автобус 07:05 — Симферополь — Граница ~ 250 ₽.  Для перехода через границу нужна тёплая непродуваемая одежда и украинский паспорт (загран или внутренний).
  2. Поезд Новоалексеевка — Львов отпр.12:07 — приб.12:35 (Только по четным)  Купе 316,80 ₴. Плацкарт 184,43 ₴.
  1. Через Херсон — Киев, в дороге ~ 21 час:
  1. Автобус до Херсона, надо выехать до 10 утра.
  2. Intercity+ Херсон 15:57 — Киев 23:07
  3. Ночной Экспресс Киев 01:07 — Львов 07:37
  1. Через Херсон — в дороге ~25 часов:
  1. Из Симферополя на автобусе до Херсона, отправление 7:00
  2. Оттуда поездом до Львова (регулярный только по четным, на новый год назначены дополнительные каждый день), отправление 12:36, во Львове 08:09.

Нюансы: для покупки жд-билетов нужна visa/mastercard (любой страны).

Прямых авиарейсов во Львов из России нет. Популярные стыковки рейсов в Минске и Вильнюсе.

Санкт-Петербург

Подробный список вариантов с пересадкой в Минске. Кое-что изменилось (появился прямой рейс Минск — Львов), но принцип тот же.

Есть неплохой вариант с пересадкой по Коростеню, общее время в пути 26 часов, цена плацкартом чуть больше 5000 ₽: Санкт-Петербург — Коростень на 61 поезде, Коростень — Львов на 743 (Заранее купить билет на экспресс можно на сайте booking.uz.gov.ua, билет электронный, в кассу обращаться не надо, только распечатать.).

Москва

Южный Федеральный Округ

Проще всего — добраться до Белгорода, пересечь границу до Харькова на автобусе, поезде, или (самый дешевый вариант) на пешеходном переходе. А из Харькова есть много вариантов дешевых и быстрых внутриукраинских поездов.
