Welcome to Week 3 of Term 2.
We were very happy to receive our Green/Gold sign and flag on Monday from Mayor Len Brown. We held a Powhiri/Assembly and some children from our Enviro team took the dignitaries on a tour of Elm Park School. Thank you for all the parents and families that came to be part of our ceremony. We were very proud of our students in the Kapa Haka and the Junior Choir for their contribution.
We always pride ourselves on the wide range of activities that Elm Park offers its students and this week has been one of those weeks. There have been Bike skills, Rugby, Social Skills, Art, Music and Maths and Reading support groups.
On Friday at lunchtime we were privileged to have the Duchesses Dance Group from the Palace perform in our auditorium (amazing).
We expect all our children to wear the correct uniform including their shoes and socks, to and from school. Please could you remind your child/ren. Thank you for you assistance with this matter.
Have a lovely weekend.

NETBALL - On Friday we had a great netball game against Shelly Park School, which we won 7 - 5. Well done Elm Park School. We will also be taking 40 students to the Netball Field Day in week 5.
Dear School Community,
As part of our ongoing fundraising, we’re trying something a little different with a fantastic ecostore ‘Good Soap’ Fundraiser.
Selling for $2.50 each, the 80g ecostore soaps are excellent value and $1 from each soap will go to Elm Park School
If you haven’t tried ecostore soaps before, they’re beautiful to use, free of nasty chemicals and have a lovely fragrance.
You’ll be able to buy your Good Soap from the office from Monday 9 March 2015.
Fundraising activities like this make an important contribution towards Elm Park School for the benefit of our school community. We’re looking forward to a successful fundraising drive.
Thank you for your support.
Rugby 7’s
On Tuesday, a team of boys went to Pakuranga Rugby Club for the HPPA, 7’s tournament. With very limited training the boys went into the tournament with lots of enthusiasm. There were lots of schools from our district playing and in the Under 35 kg weight limit there were 8 schools participating. Our first game was against Star of the Sea. We played hard during this game losing by 5 tries. From this game we decided that we needed to pass the ball more and commit to tackles. Our second game was against Shelly Park. This school is always hard to beat but we did manage to lead the game at one stage. Shelly Park came back with some ruthless tackling and a couple of runaway tries and beat us 5 tries to 2.
Next up we had Pigeon Mountain. We knew that we had to pass the ball out to our wings and secure the ball. These two points that we focused on made all the difference to our game, winning this match 7 tries to 1.
Our fourth game we were all feeling quite tired at this stage and it showed in the last minutes of our game against St Marks. With only 2 minutes left on the clock, St Marks scored 2 quick tries pipping us at the post 5 tries to 3.
Lunch time was a time to reflect on our game, eat some food and have some rest. Maybe we shouldn’t have eaten so much food, as in our next game we were all feeling a bit full. We went down to Mission Heights 4 tries to our 1.
We got our flow back on for the next game playing against Sunnyhills. We won this game by 5 tries.
With another win under our belts we were revved up and ready to pass the ball out to the wings for our last game. We won our last game 7 tries to nil.
It was a very cool day and we all had heaps of fun.
Focus on Children
Here are some lovely stories from Room 2.
