DLA019-0140 Transcription
17th July, 1931.
In reply to your kind letter, the following few notes may be of some use to the Editor of “The Artist”.[1]
I enclose the Catalogue and Invitation Card in connection with my last Exhibition in Paris[2] which was visited by President Doumergue before his retirement from office.[3]
It may also interest the Editor to know that Andre Maurois’ book, “Life of Marshal Lyautey”, which has just been published,[4] contains as a frontispiece the reproduction of my portrait of Marshal Lyautey [6118] which has been acquired by the French Government for the Versailles Museum.
I have just finished two portraits of the Earl and Countess of Strathmore [11642][11641]. That of the Earl is being presented by him to his tenants, and that of Lady Strathmore by the Duchess of York to her mother, on the occasion of their Golden Wedding on August 10th.
Another portrait which I have also just finished is of Mr. Lloyd George [6072 or 6076].
May I trouble you kindly to return to me the Catalogue and Invitation Card after perusal.
Yours sincerely,
SMDL
