Lethbridge Tournament Team 60 June 24-25

Tournament Notes:

    We played very well the first 2 games against Cardston and  Lethbridge’s 50 year old team. Eresman and Thompson have kids older than these fellows. Had a few booboos in the 1st game which put us behind but we came roaring back only to lose by 1.

Game 2

Cardston

This was another entertaining game. Tying run  on 2nd for Cardston with  1 out. The batter hit a fly ball to our outfielder and it was caught by the owner of the Medicine Hat Tigers (Roarry).         Did you know that Darrell Maser is actually the mascot under that suit?  The Runner advances to 3rd but Darrell throws to 2nd and the runner is called out for not tagging up.!!!  A win was achieved!

Head coach Derry Eresman  was so amazed, he celebrated most of the night drinking beer with team members including Darrell Maser

Game 3

Lethbridge  60's

Finally playing a team in our age bracket. D  Maser had a little pep talk with us before the game;  start fast, no penalties, and no short handed goals. Rudy said what the heck are you talking about, ”This is senior slow pitch ball.”

Lethbridge jumped out to a 10-1 lead and never looked back. I’m sure glad that we don’t face them in the summer games. We are in a higher pool bracket.

Game 4

Lethbridge  55s

After getting a butt kicking by the 60's, we were ready to leave town but Mr. Seitz talked us into staying. He said the 60's got lucky. We stayed and played.  Scored 1 run in the first  4 innings. This is ok if the other team has no runs. Unfortunately, they scored 14. Huff’s scored 3 so we weren’t Merced. Hung in there and had somewhat of a comeback scoring 5 in the 7th inning.

Highlight of the game was Micky Getton’s inside the park home run. Man, that fellow has wheels!!
