Well done to these children who received our ‘Star of the Week’ awards in assembly today.

Bumped Heads

As many of you will know, our policy is to make contact with you if your child had bumped their head.  When a child has a bump to the head, however big or small, we follow the same guidelines.  The child receives an ice pack to the bump immediately where appropriate, the incident is logged, a call is made home and the child is checked on regularly to check they are ok.  The accident form is filed in school as well as a copy being sent home.

Due to the younger children having less awareness of their surroundings they are more likely to bump into each other and sometimes fall over.  If there is a noticeable bump or your child has a large bump, bang or shake to the head we will continue to call you in the usual way.  For smaller bumps we will continue with the same procedures but will text you rather than call.  If after regular monitoring we are concerned about your child, we will of course call.

MJS - Year 4 Basic Cycling Course

Thank you for the reply slips we have already received for the Year 4 Basic Cycling Course taking place on Thursday 30th March.  There are still plenty of places so if you would like your child to take part please complete the form and send into school by next Friday.  Please see the office if you don’t have a form.

Red Nose Day

It’s time for crazy hair or a crazy hat!  We are asking children to come into school with crazy hair or even a crazy hat to help raise money for red nose day.  Donations of £1 will be collected on the day and there will be cake sale at break time where the children will be able to purchase a cake/biscuit for 30p from the School Council.  Donations of cakes at the junior school and Infant School are welcomed.   Children at the infant school will be baking in class.

MIS - Spare Clothes Needed

Accidents sometimes happen and in order for children to feel clean and fresh, we aim to provide spare underwear and clothes for the children to change into.  We have lots of clothes for children wearing age 4-6 however we have a limited amount of spare clothes for children requiring clothes 6+.  If you have any spare knickers, tights, schools trousers, skirts of polo shirts we would really appreciate them to restock our spare clothes.

Please pop them in a bag and pass to your child’s class teacher.  Thank you.

Mother Day Assembly at the Infants

We would like to invite all of mums/carers into school to join us in our Mother Day assemblies on Thursday 23rd March.  The children will be working hard to prepare some work/pictures and songs to remind you how special you are.  After the assemblies we invite you to join us and your children for cream teas in the hall.

China and Canada Class will have their assembly at 9.15am

Peru and Norway Class will have their assembly at 2.00pm

Thank you for supporting The Sick Children’s Trust

We raised a fabulous £275 for Acorn House. A huge thank you to all who supported by wearing mufti or entering the colouring competition. Acorn House rely solely on voluntary donations so this will help them on their way to supporting families in need.

Head lice

There have been a number of cases of head lice across both schools in recent weeks.  Please could I remind you that it is important to check your child regularly and it is recommended that a ‘nit comb’ is used weekly with conditioner to kill any lice before they are able to lay eggs.

If we notice any live lice/eggs in your child’s hair we will ask you to collect them from school so they can be treated and returned. Tying up long hair can reduce the spread of them.

Thank you for your continued support.

Tree Planting Week

The children have had a great week planting trees and designing elements of our new school field.  We will collate all of the pictures and plans and provide you with an update next week!

China Class have had lots of fun this week. Every child helped plant a tree on the school field and we carried out lots of our work around this including; measuring sticks with rulers, making 2D shapes and pictures from sticks, creating stories about what sticks could be used for (after reading Stanleys Stick) and much more.

Peru Class also planted a tree each on the school field and took the time to explore the outside spaces we have around the field. On our expedition we found an abundance of daffodils in the forest school area, birds in the bushes at the back of the field and stumbled across a garden area at the Junior school. The children were inspired by the gardens to plant their own peas and sunflowers!

Canada Class Toy Dance

Could all of Canada class please bring their costumes in for their toy dance. Can they please be brought in on Wednesday 22nd March.
