Dear Mr. de Laszlo,

I returned from a week-end in Sussex yesterday and was given your message to Mrs. Nettlefold.

She generally lives at our place in Sussex until the winter makes it too inclement, but I know she understood that you would expect her to give you sittings some time after her concert which takes place on the 18th. November.^[1] I believe she intends to ask you and Mrs. de Laszlo^[2] to accept tickets for her concert as she thought it might give you a good opportunity of studying her expressions.

I am communicating with her and no doubt she will write to you direct. In the meantime. I have been rather expecting a letter from you in regard to the question of terms [handwritten annotation in the left margin: I have informed him of the honorarium. MR.^[3]] and I should be glad if you would kindly let me know what your terms are, as I like to have these matters settled in advance.

I met a Mr. Patry the other day, who told me he was a great friend of yours.^[4] He is undertaking some work for me in connection with a posthumous portrait of my father and mother.
