Week 35: First Years have their orientation week and the office opens on Monday for you to get HSL forms and other things you need from the coordinator.
Week 36: Your study year starts with the Drifts festival.
Week 37: Period teaching starts.
Week 38: Workshops and Thursday talks start.
Weeks 40, 45 and 50: The focus is on period teaching. Workshops and Thursday talks have a break during these weeks.
🚢Your usual ferry for school leaves at 9.40 from the Market Square (Kauppatori).
Vacations: Week 42 is the autumn break. Weeks 51–1 (16.12.2024– 6.1.2025) we are on winter break. The office is closed during vacations, but you may work at school.
Credits (cr)/opintoviikko (study week) (ov)
Credits generally equal the amount of study weeks. For example, if a period consists of 5 weeks of teaching, the maximum amount of credits is 5.
Presences and absences
For shorter absences, please inform your teacher and talk to them about possible compensations. Please note that your presence on the course is directly linked to the amount of credits you get. You can only get full credits from a course if you attend at least 80% of the course days, or you have agreed on compensations with your teacher. For a longer absence or the discontinuation of your studies, please talk to H and/or Tanja as soon as possible.
Period teaching (mandatory)
These courses continue for several weeks with the same teacher(s) and the same focus. Period teaching is held separately for each year.
Workshops (elective)
All workshops are elective and open to all years. This is a great opportunity to meet people from other years! :) We recommend choosing 1–2 workshops per semester. You can switch workshops, but we recommend committing to a workshop for at least one semester. Remember to mark your attendance in the lists of the info board.
Thursday Talks (mandatory)
Thursday Talks function as working life orientation towards the profession of an artist. These talks are held by various arts professionals on the online platform Zoom. Thursday talks are mandatory for all years, and open to the general public. Note: The facilitator (H or Tanja) marks down your attendance. For the full 3 cr, you need to attend at least 80% of the talks (minimum 7 of 9 for autumn). If you need to compensate for an absence, talk with H about writing a learning diary.
Skillshare (elective)
Skillshares are a chance to exchange knowledge across years. The list of workshops are collected a couple of weeks before. For organising, you’ll get 1 cr; for participating, 0,5 cr.
Group meetings with H (mandatory)
Each year class has a group meeting per semester with the rector. You can find the date of your group meeting in your year schedule below. The group meetings help the rector to stay updated on the group’s study process. It is one of the many opportunities for you to share thoughts and feedback about courses and anything else in and around school.
Personal study plan (PSP) / Henkilökohtainen opintosuunnitelma (HOPS) with H (mandatory)
These meetings are held in the beginning and end of each school year with H and the meetings are mandatory for all students. You can suggest times via email to H. PSP talks are generally available on Mon–Wed at the school and on Thu remotely or at Oodi.
Tanja’s morning talk (approximately once a month)
Meeting for practical questions. You can bring your own topics or questions and Tanja will bring recent topics.

Viikko 35: Ensimmäisen vuoden opiskelijoilla on orientaatioviikko ja toimisto on auki maanantaina. Voit tulla hakemaan HSL lomakkeita ja muuta vastaavaa koordinaattorilta klo 14–15.
Viikko 36: Lukuvuosi alkaa Drifts festivaalilla.
Viikko 37: Periodiopetus alkaa.
Viikko 38: Pajat ja torstailuennot alkavat.
Viikot 40, 45 ja 50: Fokus on periodiopetuksessa. Pajat ja torstailuennot ovat tauolla.
🚢 Saavu kursseille pääsääntöisesti klo 9.40 lautalla Kauppatorilta.
Lomat: Viikolla 42 on syysloma. Viikot 51–1 (16.12.2024– 6.1.2025) olemme talvilomalla. Toimisto on kiinni lomien aikana, mutta voit itsenäisesti tulla koululle.
Credits (cr)/opintoviikko (ov)
Opintoviikot (ov:t) yleisesti vastaavat opetuksen viikkomäärää. Jos periodiopetus esimerkiksi kestää 5 viikkoa, voit kurssista saada maksimissaan 5 opintoviikkoa.
Läsnäolot ja poissaolot
Ilmoita lyhyistä poissaoloista opettajallesi ja sovi yhdessä mahdollisista korvauksista. Muista että läsnäolosi kurssilla on suoraan sidoksissa saamiesi opintopisteiden määrään. Täydet opintopisteet voit saada vain, jos osallistut vähintään 80% kurssipäivistä tai olet sopinut opettajasi kanssa korvauksista. Pidemmästä poissaolosta tai opintojen keskeyttämisestä ota mahdollisimman pian yhteyttä H:hon ja/tai Tanjaan.
Periodiopetus (pakollinen)
Nämä kurssit jatkuvat useita viikkoja samojen opettajien ohjauksessa ja samalla painopisteellä. Periodiopetus pidetään jokaiselle vuosikurssille erikseen.
Pajat (valinnainen)
Pajat ovat valinnaisia ja kaikille vuosikursseille. Tämä on loistava tilaisuus tavata muita vuosikursseja! :) Suositus on valita 1–2 pajaa per lukukausi. Pajoja voi vaihtaa, mutta suosittelemme sitoutumaan vähintään yhdeksi lukukaudeksi. Merkkaa osallistumisesi infotaulun listoihin.
Torstailuennot (pakollinen)
Torstailuennot toimivat taiteilijan ammattiin valmentavina työelämäopintoina. Näitä keskusteluja pitävät eri taiteen ammattilaiset Zoom-alustan kautta. Torstailuennot ovat pakollisia kaikille vuosikursseille ja ne ovat avoimia muullekin yleisölle. Huom: Moderaattori (H tai Tanja) pitää kirjaa osallistumislistasta. Täydet 3 ov:t tulee vähintään 80%:in osallistumisesta (syksyn osalta vähintään 7/9). Jos haluat korvata poissaolon, sovi H:n kanssa oppimispäiväkirjan kirjoittamisesta.
Skillshare (valinnainen)
Skillshare on mahdollisuus tiedon vaihtamiseen. Katso päivittyvä lista työpajoista pian TBC. Järejstämisestä saa 1 ov, osallistumisesta 0,5 ov.
Ryhmätapaamiset H:n kanssa (pakollinen)
Jokaisella vuosikurssilla on lukukauden aikana ryhmätapaaminen rehtorin kanssa. Löydät ryhmäsi kokouksen päivämäärän alta oman vsk:n lukkarista. Ryhmätapaamiset auttavat rehtoria pysymään ajan tasalla ryhmän oppimisprosessista. Tämä on yksi monista mahdollisuuksista jakaa ajatuksia ja palautetta kursseista ja kaikesta muusta kouluun liittyvästä ja sen ympäristössä.
Henkilökohtainen opintosuunnitelma (HOPS) H:n kanssa (pakollinen)
Nämä tapaamiset pidetään jokaisen lukuvuoden alussa ja lopussa H:n kanssa ja ne ovat pakollisia kaikille opiskelijoille. Voit ehdottaa aikaa H:lle sähköpostitse. HOPSeille parhaat ajat ovat yleisesti ma–ke koululla ja to etänä tai Oodissa.
Tanjan aamukahvit (noin kerran kuukaudessa)
Käydään yhdessä läpi käytännön kysymyksiä. Voit tuoda omia asioita ja kysymyksiä esille ja Tanja tuo koulun puolelta kysymyksiä opiskelijoille
