Graduating Vermilion Students Transferring to a Four-Year College or University

Bert Hoyer Memorial NRT Transfer Scholarship         

- $250 award

- for a deserving NRT student graduating from Vermilion in the spring of 2018 and transferring to a four-year college. An application is not required.

Kiwanis Club of Ely Scholarship         

- $1,500 award

- for a student graduating from Vermilion in the spring of 2018 who is also a graduate of Ely High School or Northeast Range High School (Babbitt/Tower). Involvement in volunteer service activities is a selection consideration. The recipient must be attending a four-year college or university in the fall of 2018. Proof of enrollment will be required.

                 

Father Mihelcic Memorial Scholarship

- $500 award

- for a student who will graduate from Vermilion in the spring of 2018 who is also a graduate of Ely High School or Northeast Range High School (Babbitt/Tower). The student must be attending a four-year college or university in the fall of 2018 pursuing a four-year degree in the medical field; including nursing, chiropractic, physical therapy, etc. Proof of enrollment will be required.

Edward and Esther Nelson Scholarship

- two $1,000 awards

- for students who will graduate from Vermilion in the spring of 2018 with an Associate in Arts (AA) degree. Students must be attending an accredited Minnesota college or university in the fall of 2018, enrolled as a junior or senior, and expect to receive their Bachelor’s degree within thirty months of receiving the scholarship. Proof of enrollment will be required. The scholarships will be awarded based on both financial need and academic standing. Proof of enrollment will be required. If students are awarded a scholarship for their junior year, they will be eligible for a scholarship for their senior year provided they continue to meet the scholarship criteria.

Joseph and Theresa Popesh Scholarship

- $3,000 award renewable for a second year

- for a student who will graduate from Vermilion in the spring of 2018 who is also a graduate of Ely High School. The recipient must show financial need, be working to his or her academic potential, and be attending a four-year college or university in the fall of 2018 and continuing in the fall of 2019. The recipient must show proof of enrollment and meet the eligibility criteria each year of the award.

Silver MTU Memorial Scholarship                  

- $500 award

- for a student graduating from Vermilion in the spring of 2018 and transferring to the Michigan Technological University at Houghton, Michigan. Selection will be based on academic and extracurricular achievement.
