The Story and The Storyteller project – Rubric and Study Guide

Your task is to read(or re-read) and compile a collection of at least 5 of YOUR favorite stories.  In your collection you should have at least one print, one audio, and one video resource.  You should also include at least one story from oral tradition.  You will present your collection to the class using a method of your choice.  Answer one or more of the driving questions above in your presentation.

Your presentation will likely follow one of two paths:

Option #1

 A survey of your stories sharing the important details from each story such as:

Plot - A detailed, accurate and clean plot diagram for one of your stories.

Character - Three character studies from your collection(example - iPad home screen, Fakebook page, photostream, playlist, other).  

5 Artifacts with explanation.  Artifacts may be symbols, depictions of the setting, plot elements, character traits or other significant elements from your stories.

Your entire presentation should mention at least 10 literary terms total from the class list and textual support to demonstrate your understanding of them.

A creative interpretation of one(or more) of your stories.  If you go this route you should be able to explain your process and the connection between what you created and the driving questions.

You should also compete journal a minimum of 5 entries based(in writer’s notebook) on your preparation and research for the project.  These can include your planning, writings about your stories, sketches of plot diagrams, characters etc, notes for your presentation, or your reflection on the process.
