- “Being the Body” by Charles Colson
Importance of sharing testimonies and being Christian digital witnesses online today
Key Points:
- We are called to live IN and engage WITH the world, not be isolated / separated from it
- Matthew 4:12-17 - Jesus preached his message at the crossroads of civilizations, we are called to speak out in the digital crossroads of our age
- Reference: Living in Capernaum - Follow the Rabbi
- Personal testimony is the foundational method for sharing Jesus’ gospel
- 1 Peter 3:15-16 - Always be ready to share how God is at work in your life, and how it is you came to claim the name of Jesus for salvation
- Research by the Barna Group: It’s critical to reach young people with the gospel, statistics show how relatively FEW adults make decisions for Christ
The WHY
Should Christians Publish on YouTube? Yes, definitely.
- Rolling Green Outreach Ministry (YouTube example)
- Greyson Chance, YouTube, Lady Gaga, Paparazzi, Ellen and Jesus
- REMIX: Bible Book Bop
- Minchey (Testimony video on Celebrate Oklahoma Voices)
- Ethan’s Story (story of faith on Celebrate Oklahoma Voices)
- Storychasers
Key Points:
- The enemy is engaged all around us in a fight for the minds of our children (as well as our own)
- 1 Peter 5:8 - the enemy prowls about like a lion
- Access to pornography is easier than ever
- Messages of self gratification, instant gratification, promiscuity, unrealistic and unhealthy body image, etc are all around us
- Our stories of Christian faith can build up others in our communities
- Hebrews 10:24-25 - spur one another on toward love and good deeds
- Recording our stories and publishing them brings multiple benefits
- Greater accessibility to our stories
- “the beginning of history” - we have unprecedented capabilities now to archive and preserve voices and stories
- Opportunity to clarify and practice “our stories of faith”
