Patriot Boot Camp Will Host Technology Entrepreneurship Program in Denver
September 22-24, 2017 in Denver, Colorado
DENVER, Colo., June 6, 2017 - Patriot Boot Camp is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its next technology entrepreneurship boot camp in Denver, Colorado from September 22-24, 2017. The application period is now open through August 6, 2017. All interested servicemembers, veterans, and their spouses are encouraged to apply on Patriot Boot Camp’s webpage: www.patriotbootcamp.org/apply-denver
Patriot Boot Camp’s three-day program (“PBC”) is an intensive educational experience designed to engage, inspire, and mentor military veterans and military spouses to start, innovate, and scale technology-focused businesses. It is modeled after the three-month Techstars accelerator and offered at no cost. The Denver program will provide approximately 50 participants with entrepreneurial education, mentoring, and networking to help them solidify a business idea, focus their fundraising pitch, and demonstrate progress along their entrepreneurial path.
“PBC was unlike any other experience in my career,” said Tom Cox, a 2016 PBC alumnus and Founder/CEO of CANDL. “It was a fast-paced mixture of training, fellowship, and support. We learned cutting-edge business, financing, and lean startup processes from industry experts, met dozens of fellow veteran and military spouse entrepreneurs, and had ample 1:1 time with mentors and investors. PBC is an amazing community that I leverage every day even now, and was key in helping me get accepted to Techstars Boulder in 2017.”
PBC is made possible by the generous support of many organizations that are committed to seeing veterans succeed as entrepreneurs and employees. Techstars, Jared Polis Foundation, and USAA lead this support as PBC’s presenting sponsors for 2017. The program will be sponsored locally by SendGrid, who is donating facilities to host the event. “Since the very beginning, Patriot Boot Camp has worked intently to bring our military veterans into the world of entrepreneurism. Vets make strong founders due to their unstoppable nature and drive to succeed, said Paul Ford, Vice President of Community Development at SendGrid. “As an Army airborne infantry vet, mentor and sponsor of PBC since the very first Boot Camp, I’m thrilled that SendGrid is supporting this worthwhile cause.”
Since 2012, PBC has hosted 10 programs across 7 states. The Denver event will mark PBC’s 11th program, and its first in Colorado. "The Denver program represents a homecoming for Patriot Boot Camp. Our roots, and our deepest support network, have always existed in the Denver and Boulder startup ecosystem. PBC is honored to finally bring our three-day program home to Colorado," said Josh Anderson, PBC's Chief Operating Officer. “PBC's community is transformative, bridging the gap between military service and entrepreneurial life by connecting veterans with high quality education and mentorship. I look forward to helping more entrepreneurs integrate into Colorado's rich startup ecosystem, and believe our September program will be a major milestone in advancing veteran innovation & entrepreneurship in Denver."
