Happy New Year
Welcome back! We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday with family and friends. We are very excited to see all of the students’ smiling faces back at school and we wish everyone a Happy New Year! We look forward to a wonderful year of learning.
Some parents/guardians will have received a notice from Ottawa Public Health (OPH) advising them that their child’s immunization records are incomplete. If you have received such a notice, please be advised that your child will be suspended from school beginning on Wednesday, February 8th, and will be unable to return until OPH advises the school that he/she may be readmitted. If you have any questions, please contact Ottawa Public Health at 613-580-6744.
Any child who will turn four in 2017 is eligible to start Kindergarten in September. January 16th to January 20th is designated as our Kindergarten Registration week. Parents are encouraged to come into the school and register their child at this time. Please bring your child’s birth certificate and immunization records. St. Stephen will continue to welcome new families and answer questions at any time during the school year as well. Please visit ocsb.ca/kindergarten for more information.
Our food program continues in the New Year with a Mazzola Lunch day on Wednesday, January 11th, followed by a Pita Lunch and then a Pizza Lunch the next two weeks.
Tryouts for our Girls and Boys Badminton teams will be held this week for interested Grade 5 and Grade 6 students. Ms. Brown will be coaching the Girls team and Ms. Arcuri will be coaching the Boys team. The Girls tournament will be held on Tuesday, January 17th and the Boys tournament will be held on Thursday, January 19th. Both tournaments will be hosted by Guardian Angels Catholic School.
As the snow continues to accumulate and the temperatures drop, we want to remind all of our students, especially our walkers, to dress warmly each day. We also want to remind our walkers to continue to be cautious when walking on the paths and crossing the road, as the large snowbanks can sometimes obstruct the views of adults driving vehicles. Thanks for your cooperation.
