UCHICAGO STUDENT ACTION STATEMENT ON GEORGE FLOYD AND SOLIDARITY WITH PROTESTERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY

In light of recent events, leaders and members of UChicago Student Action are hurting deeply alongside communities in Minneapolis, Louisville, Atlanta, Tallahassee, and too many others who have experienced state-sanctioned violence in the past weeks. We are angered by the disregard for Black lives by systems that continually value private property over people. Now more than ever, we are grounded in fighting for a world without police, without prisons, without white supremacy. Our organizers are inspired by protests in Minneapolis and across the country that are expanding our definitions of what is politically possible. As we move forward with the analysis that police do not keep us safe, our campaigns will keep fighting for true community safety and real investment.
