1. Message from the President

First of all, I wish you and your family a Happy, Healthy, Spiritual and Prosperous New Year! It is my great pleasure to greet you as the president of JSCNC family. Hope everyone enjoyed this wonderful winter holidays.

As we start our new year, I would like to thank our outgoing members of the executive committee, Anand Shah (President), Pratyush (Badal) Mehta (Treasurer) and Neha Mehta (Food Coordinator) for their outstanding contribution and excellent leadership for making our community stronger! I also want to thank our existing committee members Bhairav Shah (Secretary), Ritaben Lodaya (Pathshala Director), Rupal Vora (Youth/Outreach Director) and Pathshala Teachers Sejal Shah and  Shweta Shah for their continued contribution and support for our center. I take this opportunity to welcome our new committee members; Vaishali Shah (Vice President), Sanjay Shah (Treasurer) and Nisha Mehta (Food Coordinator). Please take a moment to congratulate the committee members when you see them next time.

Gerald Ford once said, “Coming together is the beginning, staying together is progress and working together is success”. I want to thank each of you along with my committee for showing your passion, generosity, openness and cooperation year after year.  As this Executive Committee takes on the responsibility for year 2016, our main objective is to enhance and promote Jain teachings and principals and build a strong foundation and faith in our future generations in order to accept Jainism as a way of life.

One last point, I sincerely encourage the parents of young children to make sure their kids attend pathshala regularly. I can say this from my personal experience that learning Jainism in Pathshala along with other kids was one of the most important part of our daughters’ upbringing and we are glad that they were involved in the early phase of their lives.

I take this opportunity to thank the founding members, past Executive Committee members and all, for their hard work in making JSCNC what it is today and hope that I, together with the Executive Committee, can do the same to promote Bhagvan Mahavir’s teachings.

Weekly Mahavir Puja

Every Saturday, a Mahavir Puja is performed at the Hindu Temple.  Volunteers sign up to perform this Puja, and are assigned specific Saturdays.

The Puja is very simple and takes less than one hour.  It is a great way to teach and prepare children with this important ritual, so that they find confidence in performing it during daily routine, special occasions or even pilgrimages in India.  Children will learn how to perform the kesar Puja and all aspects of Asht prakari Puja.

Mrs. Rekha Banker, who coordinates weekly Puja, will be happy to demonstrate in person, and has several books with illustrations to help.  If you are interested, please contact her at rekla78@gmail.com.
