FASTING AND MEDICATION INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO PROCEDURE

Please let us know in advance if you have any allergies to IV contrast dye

Pain medication may need to be held so that you arrive with a pain score of at least 4/10.

No need to stop blood thinners for any Facet Block, Medial Branch Block or Radiofrequency Lesioning

Any Cervical (neck) or Thoracic (mid-back) injections, Spinal Cord Stimulator Trials/ Implants, Discograms, and Vertebroplasty procedures require that you be  

Off Aspirin/Aggrenox /Plavix x 7 days.    

Off other blood thinners  (Eliquis, Xarelto, Ticlid, and Pradaxa) x 5 days.

Off all NSAIDS x 3 days (see list).

Off Heparin, Lovenox x 24 hours.    

With Lumbar or low back injections you may continue NSAID medications

EXAMPLE  “off x 3 days” means that you have not taken the medication for 3 full days before the day of your procedure.

NSAIDS include the following medications: Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Nuprin, Arthrotec, Diclofenac, Voltaren, Lodine, Vicoprofen, Ketorolac/Toradol, Meloxicam/Mobic, Relafen/Nabumetone, Naproxen/Naprosyn, Daypro, Feldene, Clinoril/Sulindac, Tolmetin/Tolectin.
