Type of College and Career Advising and Mentoring Model Used

Our district chose to use a high contact college and career advising program using many of the strategies and resources of the original Near Peer Mentor Program. During the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 school years, Bonneville High School had two Near Peer Mentors provided through the CACG. We chose to use many of the strategies and resources of the Near Peer Mentor Program established at Bonneville High School because it was extremely successful.

We retained the two non-certified staff already working at BHS to be College and Career Readiness Advisors and hired two additional non-certified staff for our district. There will be two College and Career Readiness Advisors primarily located in BHS and two primarily located at Hillcrest High School. They will share responsibility for the other locations in our district such as the alternative and technical schools, as well as responsibility to work with our 8th grade students.

The College and Career Readiness Advising Program will be a high contact program where our advisors primary function will be to meet with students in group and one-on-one settings to advise students on careers and college programs.
