Coach House History
A beautifully refurbished one or two bedroom Coach House, which forms part of The Old Rectory located just across the lane from All Saints Church. The original house dates back to the 1700s with wings added in the early and late 1800s.
The Coach House has been designed to create a spacious open plan living area including a new oak framed double glazed conservatory, a bespoke kitchen with granite work tops. Some original features have been retained in particular the cast iron spiral staircase, leading to a romantic ensuite double bedroom with a deluxe 5ft bed. The second bedroom also has a 5ft bed and an attached separate bathroom with full ensuite facilities.
The Old Rectory is situated on a quiet lane in the picturesque hamlet of Coddington surrounded by glorious open countryside with a vineyard (with shop) within a short walk.
Coddington is a located in south east Herefordshire, lying just below the Malvern Hills 5.5 km and north of Ledbury. The community is centred around All Saints Parish Church with origins dating back to the 11th century.

”Lovely Coach House and beautiful gardens
Review for a stay in August 2020
Lovely coach house and beautiful gardens in a quaint village. Close enough to lots of towns and local attractions. The information book gave lots of insight into the local area especially as we had our little dog, so dog friendly places are listed. It was such a lovely break. We’ve already recommended it to family and friends. Thank you so much

Lovely owners. Chris met us on arrival and explained everything we needed to know. The coach house beautiful and the one and a half acre of land incredible. Fortunate to meet the owners’ father- lovely gentleman! And the resident cockapoo was gorgeous.
“We loved our stay at The Coach House”
Review for a stay in October 2019
It is a stunning accommodation, full equipped and clean. The garden was stunning and also the warm welcome of Chris and Julie. The location, across from the church, is beautiful. We appreciated the welcome package and also the quick answers to our questions. We stayed for six days and we will return and surely definitely recommend. Thank you Chris and Julie for everything.
“Gorgeous gardens, stunning accommodation, super cumfy bed”
Review for a stay in August 2019
We arrived with our dog Hugo to be greeted by Chris and Jules and to our great delight their dog Buster. Gorgeous gardens, stunning accommodation, super cumfy bed and all the conveniences you could ask for. Add to this the surrounding countryside and you have the perfect venue for the perfect break. We would return and recommend to anyone wishing to stay in the area. Five stars in every category.
“Thank you, Julie, for our delightful week in the Coach House”
Review for a stay in May 2019
Thank you, Julie, for our delightful week in the Coach House of The Old Rectory. The location and setting were perfect for us in that we enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of the exquisite Herefordshire countryside, yet were in easy commute to the fascinating historical market town of Ledbury and the stunningly beautiful Malvern Hills. The Coach house was beautifully and stylishly presented, immaculately clean and very well appointed. We loved being greeted by your inquisitive and friendly pooch. Made us feel at home! Many thanks again.
“Impressed by the location and interior of the Coach House”
Review for a stay in March 2019
My husband and I (plus our collie Meg) stayed at Chris and Jules beautiful property for just 3 nights and we were so impressed by the location and interior of the Coach House. It was so warm, cosy and comfortable; everything has been thought of to make you feel at home and the furnishings feel such lovely quality. It is really tasteful inside and with underfloor heating and a wood burner so it would be lovely at any time of the year. The grounds are also very attractive and Meg loved wandering round the garden which was fully enclosed and friendly resident cockapoo Buster joined in too! We had lovely walks on the Malvern Hills and ate out at two or three dog friendly pubs which were really good. Jules provided a welcome pack and was on hand should we need her but we felt completely at ease as the Coach House itself has a separate entrance from the main house and is nicely secluded. We would definitely recommend it to our friends and family. Thanks Chris and Jules.
“A touch of quality all around”

Had a lovely stay with my partner and little puppy.
Plenty of garden space for the dog to run around outside.
Everything from the welcome treats, heated floors, quality hand wash and the list goes on and on, was perfect.
“Outstanding in every way”
Review for a stay in February 2019
Chris, our host, was fantastic. Showed us around and explained everything. He even guided us on things to do and places to visit.
Every little detail was thought about in this stylish property, that has been renovated to a very high standard. Set in a rural location that has amazing views and with a log burner in the evening, made for a perfect end to each day.
Highly recommended and looking forward to rebooking.
Thank you Chris and Julie for a wonderful wedding anniversary retreat.
“Charming hide-away in rural surroundings“
Review for a stay in December/January 2019
We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay in Chris and Julie’s beautiful and well-equipped cottage. Chris showed us around on our arrival and couldn’t have been more helpful. The grounds are extensive and very dog friendly, the village is peaceful and there is much to see and do in the area. We can’t recommend this property highly enough and will definitely return.

My daughter and myself stayed at The Coach House for a two night get away, we couldn't have been happier. The house is gorgeous and felt truly spoilt. Julie was very helpful in explaining things and recommending good pubs to dine. The dogs are gorgeous and we are already talking about returning in the summer to appreciate the stunning countryside.
Review for a stay in December 2018
A very warm and informative welcome from Chris started a wonderful short 3 night stay in this cozy coach house. Perfect evenings in front of the log burner, days out in Ledbury and Ludlow, and walks around the village and vineyard made a really relaxing and memorable stay.
We look forward to coming back!
“Fabulous luxury weekend away”
Review for a stay in November 2018
What a find, an absolutely amazing house with great hosts to explain all you need to know about the property to ensure a cosy peaceful weekend in the Malvern Hills. Chris greeted us with a tour of the house, how everything worked, and his recommendations of where to eat, which we tried a few of during our stay. Walking was fabulous and we set off from Upper Colwall, less than 5 miles from the house, where we walked the peaks from North Hill to The British Camp and beyond in the South. Thank you, we will be back in 2019!

Short break at half-term, to recoup and refresh. The Coach House provides lovely accommodation in a great location. Ideal for visiting the towns of Ledbury and Malvern, as well as accessing the many walks on the stunning Malvern Hills. Thoroughly recommended.
“Fantastic place...ideal for a short break and excellent location”
Review for a stay in September 2018
Thank you Chris and Julie (and Buster),
We stayed for my birthday for a three nights during the second weekend in September. The Coach House was ideal and maintained to a high standard. The location is ideal if you want to go walking to the Malvern Hills and only 4 miles from Ledbury.
Buster was a real treat and enjoyed running around the garden with my daughter. Chris had recommended some restaurants to us and they were both great (The Indian in Ledbury is superb).
If we were to go and stay in the area we would have no hesitation in staying at the Coach House.
“”Fabulous accommodation in lovely grounds”

Had a lovely time at the Coach House! Took our two pooches who had an amazing time exploring the beautiful garden. The accommodation was first rate and both Chris and Julie made us very welcome! Great location to get to the Malvern Hills and Eastnor Castle. Also enjoyed walking the nearby orchard.... overall fab stay. Would highly recommend!

What an amazing place, it’s beautiful. Beautiful location, quiet village. Julie has worked so hard in the garden, it’s worth a walk around the grounds. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and having a visit every night by the neighbours dog to wish us a goodnight. We will definitely be back next year to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Ledbury is such a diamond, amazing buildings, full of history. Worth a visit to the The Feathers for a steak, absolutely scrumptious. Thank you for amazing stay.
“Stunning Property in a beautiful location”

What an amazing find this was! Jules and Chris are fantastic hosts and have created a relaxing, luxurious and welcoming atmosphere in their beautiful Coach House property. Every detail has been thought about, from a wonderful welcoming pack (including tasty treats for our dog!), lovely products in the bathrooms, down to torches to help you light your way if you happen to be out for a walk in the dark in the country lanes. The Coach House is the most calming retreat you could hope to find. We can’t wait to come back.

I booked this for my husband's birthday treat over Easter. What a fantastic place! The house is set in a beautiful village overlooking an idyllic church. The accommodation was spotless and stunning with the highest quality in fixtures and fittings. Chris showed us around on our arrival. He was very welcoming and informative on places to see and go. Very dog friendly and our dog Milly met Buster, the owners dog, and Wilf, next door. He used to call for her daily for their run around the garden and she misses him already, so she had a brilliant time too! Lovely welcome pack on our arrival, including mini Lindt bunny easter eggs and doggie biscuits too! It's the little things that count and attention to detail that made this a 5 star accommodation in my eyes. We would definitely recommend this property and we would definitely go back. Thank you Chris, Jules, Buster.
“A stunningly beautiful and peaceful retreat”
Review for a stay in February 2018
We booked a two night break at the last minute. The correspondence between the owners and ourselves was very prompt and extremely helpful. Upon arrival, we could have not been happier. What a setting! Chris met us and gave us the quick tour. The welcome basket was incredible, even down to the dog treats. The decor of the coach House is minimalist and wonderful. All the furnishings are of very high quality as is the property in general. We took our two dogs and they absolutely loved it. Our Cockapoo could have spent all day running around the beautiful gardens with the owners, very friendly and excited, Cockapoo, Buster. We enjoyed an idyllic two days here, visited the Malvern Hills and plenty of dog walks in the splendid countryside. Absolutely no negatives re this property and its location. I did not want to post feedback as i wanted to keep this retreat for myself but Julie and Chris deserve all the accolades they can get for the property and their warm customer service. Can’t recommend highly enough. Thanks for everything.
“Lovely break after the festive season”
Review for a stay in January 2018
We wanted a break after the busy Christmas period and loved the look of the property. It was even better than we expected, beautifully decorated and finished with everything we needed. A lovely welcome from Chris who showed us around and gave us guides and information on local walks and restaurants which was a great help!
The grounds are beautiful and our dogs loved roaming around and meeting Buster!
Some great local restaurants and shops. Beautiful part of the world. Did lots of walking and enjoyed lazy mornings and cozy nights in by the fire.
Would highly recommend and we may even look to go back as was so relaxed and comfortable.
Thanks for having us and the bulldogs!

Review for a stay in December 2017
Myself and my girlfriend stayed at the coach house for a long weekend in December 2017 and had such a relaxing and pleasant stay. The apartment is beautifully furnished and immaculately presented. Our hosts were very helpful with their knowledge of the surrounding area and extremely welcoming but we felt completely secluded for the whole stay which was brilliant. I really couldn't recommend this property enough for those who want a quiet retreat in the heart of the countryside.

Julie and Chris were so accommodating with our stay over the weekend. The coach house was a Truly peaceful retreat my partner and I experienced and it was great to bring the dog. I would highly recommend the coach house and would love to visit again.
Thank you again both!
“Fabulous accommodation in a peaceful location”
Review for a stay in October 2017
We booked the coach house for a relaxing family break away with our pooch and it didn't disappoint!
Coddington is a peaceful little place with some beautiful walks, a vineyard and a beautiful little church. The Oak Inn in Staplow was great for food and a drink!
The coach house is stylish and well equipped accommodation. There were some lovely little touches such as wine, scones, and biscuits. Which were lovely! The grounds of Julie and Chris's home are wonderful, Julie was very welcoming however, and Buster the dog is adorable. We unfortunately didn't meet Chris.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return! Thank you!
“Wonderful weekend at the Coach House”
Review for a stay in September 2017
The Coach House is a wonderful place to stay. I stayed with my husband, daughter and son on September the 1st! We were attending a wedding at Eastnor Castle! The Coach House is in a very picturesque area and such lovely people! We did not meet Chris but Julie was so nice and made us feel so welcome! She left a bottle of wine, scones, clotted cream, jam. Maltesers and milk. What a nice idea! The Coach House had everything we needed! Two bedrooms , two bathrooms, a fabulous kitchen and dining area and access to a wonderful garden. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area! Thanks Chris and Julie for a wonderful weekend!
“Luxurious House in a Beautiful Area”
Review for a stay in August 2017
The Coach House is in a very quiet village, Coddington. The house is beautifully and very tastefully decorated. The beds are very comfortable. Everywhere was very clean, even though it's a dog friendly house. The welcome basket was very thoughtful, with scones, jam, cider, biscuits, it even included home made dog biscuits. There was milk and cream in the fridge. Everything you could need is in the house. Julie and her dog Buster made us feel very welcome. The house is beautiful and is matched by the gorgeous garden, which are children loved- plenty of space to play in, with our dog and Buster. The setting is beautiful, overlooking a church, down windy country lanes, with apple orchards and vineyards a short walk away. Nearby Ledbury has a lovely high street with lots of independent retailers who were all very friendly. We all enjoyed a very relaxing couple of days in a luxurious holiday rental. Thank you - we would definitely recommend a visit to anyone who wanted to relax as a couple or a family.
“Luxury rural retreat near Ledbury”
Review for a stay in June 2017
Our stay was a relaxing retreat away from the city. Chris, Jules and Buster we're really welcoming and super friendly. Our stay was fantastic, their home and garden is just perfect and the location is beautiful. They gave us a welcome pack which was very generous, including locally made cider, scones and jam. Can't recommend this place enough.

Wonderful accommodation located in a beautiful, tranquil setting. Chris and Julie are brilliant and we really enjoyed having Buster (their dog) visit us, our dog is already missing him. The area is full of interesting places to visit, Ledbury has some real hidden gems. I would recommend the old rectory to anyone and will be going back again. Thanks for a great time.
“A luxury rural retreat”
Review for a stay in April 2017
We were a group of 4 staying at the Coach House.
From booking to leaving Chris and Julie made everything so easy. Initial communication following our booking was great and on arrival Chris gave us a tour of the property and gave some local insight on places to visit and eat. This was really helpful and appreciated.
The property is of a very high standard and has everything you would need for any length of stay. Downstairs, the Oak timber extension creates a light and open space which we were very comfortable in. Upstairs both bedrooms had en suites. The Beds were very comfortable and linen and towels were very good quality.
The garden was lovely and great to see Buster and his pal running around enjoying the space. The birdsong was beautiful to listen to.
We had evening meals at the Bell at Bosbury and the Oak Inn at Staplow and would happily recommend both.
The location of the Coach House is in a quiet village not too far from Ledbury, which is also worth a visit.
We had a great trip and wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to stay. You won't find many better properties or better hosts.
“A beautiful, rural retreat”
Review for a stay in Dec 2016
Myself, my husband, my mum and our dog enjoyed a wonderful four night stay here at Christmas. Despite seeing the pictures and reviews beforehand, the Coach House still surpassed my expectations - it really is absolutely stunning, in its entirety. It's clear a lot of thought has gone into creating a luxurious space with the highest quality fixtures and fittings. The owners, Chris and Julie were delightful - incredibly welcoming and always on hand but never intrusive. They had gone to the extra effort of decorating the property with some beautiful Christmas decorations in keeping with the style of the Coach House which created a charming, festive feel. They had put together a gorgeous hamper complete with handmade crackers and treats for the dog and put a bottle of wine from the local vineyard in the fridge in readiness for our arrival! We enjoyed a beautiful walk around Eastnor Deer Park on Christmas Day (a 10 minute drive away) and up Worcestershire Beacon on Boxing Day, also 10 minutes away by car. An idyllic retreat and the perfect place for some rest and relaxation. We shared a very special Christmas together and created memories that we shall never forget. We cannot recommend it highly enough and we shall certainly be returning. Thank you Chris and Julie!
“Beautiful property in quiet location”
Review for a stay in Oct 2016
We stayed over four nights at the Coach House and had a wonderful stay. The property is beautifully appointed, clean and well presented. It is set in a quiet location but within easy distance to Bosbury and Ledbury, as well as other nearby attractions. The owners Julie and Chris were very welcoming and friendly and were on hand if needed. The only negative is the spiral staircase which may not be suitable for elderly guests with mobility problems, otherwise a wonderful property which I would recommend to friends and family.
“Beyond Our Expectations”

The hosts are very friendly, helpful and approachable. The accommodation is fully in the description. The beds are great for sleeping. The equipment is modern, stylish, chic and with attention to detail. The dog of the hosts is very sweet, cuddly and playful. The property is in excellent condition and absolutely clean and comfortable.

We would 100% stay here again. Chris & Julie's property is absolutely beautifully finished and has everything you may need on site. Lots of space, comfy beds and bedding and beautiful bathrooms. They even left us a gift of scones and local cider on arrival with milk in the fridge for milk and coffee - lovely touch! Highly recommended.

“A very relaxing, quiet and comfortable stay”
Review for a stay in August 2015
We had a very friendly and helpful welcome from Chris and Julie, and Buster the Cockerpoo. The cottage has been finished to a high standard and the garden is lovely to stroll in. We had both of the bedrooms and the beds are very comfortable. The partly open plan bathroom in the main bedroom takes a bit of getting used to, but didn't bother us much. We were fortunate with the weather for our 4 night stay and walked every day. We did one of the walks from a leaflet in the cottage - taking the train from Ledbury to Colwell and then walking back on part of the Malvern Hills back to Ledbury (about 8 miles). On one day we walked from the cottage to Colwell and back, with lunch at the Chase Inn. We also had 2 enjoyable meals at the Farmers Arms - the 2 course supper club menu on a Wednesday was good both in terms of quality and value. The local roads are narrow but very quiet and you definitely feel like you are somewhere special. Overall a really enjoyable holiday.
“Beautiful House - Highly Recommend”

This place was completely amazing! Very clean, modern and clearly has had a lot of time and effort spent on it. We turned up very late on Friday night (due to traffic) and Chris (the owner) was so welcoming. I would so recommend this place. I promise, you will be blown away. Would definitely stay again!

“Home from Home”
Review for a stay in March 2015
This is a well equipped, quaint property that gives you all the comforts of your own home. The kitchen has everything you could hope for if you want to cater at your leisure but there are plenty of good pubs to eat at within 2/3 miles.
The bed was very comfortable & everywhere was spotless. The only thing we would advise is that SatNav is a must if you want to find your way around with ease. Beautiful countryside, no matter what the weather with circular walks on your doorstep.
Review for a stay in December 2014
After the long journey, as soon as we arrived, we knew we had chosen the right property. It looks gorgeous in the photos and the reality is even better. This really is a high standard conversion and The Coach House is fully equipped with high quality fixtures, fittings and accessories.
The superb welcome pack was particularly generous and summed up the property.
The owners Chris and Jules were available but never intrusive and the location opposite the pretty church is perfect.
This really is the place for a romantic getaway!!
“A clean modern corner of cider country”
Review for a stay in October 2014
The hamlet of Coddington is nestled between cider orchards, with a well-maintained church right across the road from the Coach House and a vineyard 15 minutes' walk away. So a perfect setting for a countryside break for a pair of nature-loving ramblers.
The Coach House is a modern annex to the Old Rectory, which is a beautiful old house set in stunning gardens, which we were able to enjoy at leisure. The accommodation is comfortable, offering a well-equipped kitchen and a varied selection of books and DVDs for those days we weren't able to spend outside.
The open-plan bathroom has been mentioned elsewhere, which we also found disconcerting, but one additional aspect of the building which made us a little uncomfortable was the perceived proximity of the main house caused by the gap under the connecting door in the bedroom. We didn't hear a sound from our hosts during the week though, so it must have been subjective - worth a mention though.
“Lovely location and a well equipped accommodation”
Review for a stay in September 2014
Modern extension to a beautiful house in very rural location. Very high standard and spotless. Excellent base from which to explore Hereford and Worcester. The owners are most welcoming...and so was Buster, their adorable Cockerpoo dog!
“Beautiful quiet retreat in the "middle of nowhere"
Review for a stay in August 2014
A really lovely accommodation in a quiet village near to Ledbury. Owners very friendly and warmly welcomed us. As the accommodation is attached to their beautiful home, (with an extensive and lovely mature garden) we shared their driveway. However the accommodation is secluded, including a small patio area. Very well appointed kitchen, including dishwasher (which we made use of) and a washing machine. Tea towels and washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and laundry powder all included. We were pleasantly surprised to have a "starter pack" awaiting us, of bread, milk, tea, butter some wine and cider and a box of chocolates, which was most welcome.
The sitting area also had a wood burning stove, but as it was August we did not use it. TV and DVD player were available. The open plan layout downstairs worked very well.
The bedroom upstairs was reached by a spiral staircase, so not suitable for those with mobility issues. Our only (slight) issue was the fact that the "bathroom" was a part of the open plan area upstairs, with only a wall (and no door) between the bedroom and the toilet. Again, the facilities upstairs were of a very high quality; excellent shower and comfortable large bed. Hand soap, and moisturiser, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel all provided, as well as good quality towels.
We enjoyed our time in the area, visiting many local sites, including English heritage, National Trust, and did some walking.
“A stunningly restored Coach House in beautiful countryside.”
Review for a stay in July 2014
Newly restored with all modern finishes and in a gorgeous location. The living room with roaring fire has panoramic windows looking out on a lovely secluded garden. This is the perfect spot for exploring Malvern Hills, Ledbury and other local attractions. Free Wifi was a bonus.
Jules and Chris are lovely welcoming hosts and made our stay memorable. This place is a gem and I can't recommend it enough
“Peace and Tranquility”
Review for a stay in May 2014
Tucked away in a tiny village outside Ledbury is The Old Rectory Coach House. The village itself has only a handful of houses and a church, making it ideal if you want to really relax and escape from everything. Ledbury is about 5 miles away and is a really charming market town with lots of independent shops.
We stayed for a long weekend over the May Bank Holiday and there is plenty to see and do in the area. We were lucky that there was a Chili festival at Eastnor Castle so we went down for the afternoon and as well as enjoying all the food had a tour of the castle itself. We also had a great meal at the nearby Three Choirs vineyard, oh and a cream tea after walking in the Malverns.
Jules the owner was kind enough to recommend a really good jogging route for us which we needed after all food we had eaten!
The accommodation was spotlessly clean, modern and comfortable. It also had really some really nice touches and has kept the character of the house. Would definitely recommend it.
