‘My entire moral code then and now is I need to be thought of as good, it’s all I wrote about, it’s all I wanted. It’s the complete and total belief system that I subscribed to as a kid. ‘I’ve been trained to be happy when I get a lot of praise. I had that praise of Taylor you’re doing a good job in your work. You’re doing a good job at being a songwriter. You’re doing a good job at being a musician. Like those pats on the head were all I lived for. I was so fulfilled by approval, that that was it. I became the person who everyone wanted me to be. But when you’re living for the approval of strangers and that is where you derive all of your joy and fulfillment, one bad thing can cause everything to crumble.’

‘I realized it’s not good for me to see pictures of myself every day ‘cause I have a tendency, and it’s only happened a few times and I’m not in any way proud of it but I tend to get triggered by something whether it’s a picture of me where I feel like my tummy was too big or someone said that I looked pregnant or something, and that’ll just trigger me to starve a little bit, like just stop eating. I thought that I was just supposed to feel like I was going to pass out at the end of a show or in the middle of it. I thought that was how it was, and now I realize, no, if you eat food, have energy, get stronger, you can do all these shows and not feel it. Which is really a good revelation… because I’m a lot happier with who I am, and I’m happier with, like… I don’t care as much if somebody points out that I have gained weight. It’s just something that makes my life better, the fact that I’m a size six instead of a size double zero. I mean that wasn’t how my body was supposed to be. I just didn’t really understand that at the time. I really don’t think I knew it. I would have defended it to anyone who said, “I’m concerned about you.” I was like, “What are you talking about? Of course I eat. It’s perfectly normal. I just exercise a lot. And I did exercise a lot, but I wasn’t eating. And I don’t think you know you’re doing that when you’re doing it gradually. There’s always some standard of beauty that you’re not reaching, cause if you’re thin enough then you don’t have that ass that everybody wants. But if you have enough weight on you to have an ass, then your stomach isn’t flat enough. It’s all just fucking impossible. You don’t ever say to yourself like “I’ve got an eating disorder.” But you know that you’re making a list of everything you put in your mouth that day, and you know that that’s not right but then again there’s so many diet blogs that tell you that that’s what you should do. This would cause me to go into a real shame like a hate spiral. And I caught myself yesterday starting to do it, and I was like, “Nope, we don’t do that anymore. We do not do that anymore, because it’s better to think you look fat than to look sick. And we don’t do that anymore, and we’re changing the channel in our brain, and we’re not doin’ that anymore. That didn’t end us up in a good place.”

‘I had won Album of the Year at the Grammy’s for a second time which I had never thought was a possibility and I remember thinking afterward, “Oh my God that was all you wanted. Oh God, that was all you focused on.” You get to the mountaintop and you look around and you’re like, “Oh, God. What now?” I didn’t have a partner that I climbed it with- that I could, like, high-five. I didn’t have anyone I could talk to that I could relate to.. you know? I had my mom, but I just wondered… shouldn’t I have someone I could call right now?’

‘When people decided I was wicked, and evil and conniving, and not a good person, that was the one that I couldn’t bounce back from ‘cause my whole life was centered around it. #TaylorSwiftIs OverParty was the number one trend on twitter worldwide. Do you know how many people have to be tweeting that they hate you for that to happen? We’re people who bought into this line of work because we wanted people to like us, ‘cause we were intrinsically insecure, because we liked the sound of people clapping, ‘cause it made us forget how much we feel like we’re not good enough and I’ve been doing this for 15 years and I’m tired… it just feels like its more than music now at this point. And, just most days, I’m like, “Okay.” But then sometimes, I’m just like… it just gets loud sometimes.”

“When people fall out of love with you. There’s nothing you can do to make them change their mind. They just don’t love you anymore. I just wanted to disappear. Nobody physically saw me for a year and that was what I thought they wanted. The reason that that backlash hurt so much was that used to be all I had. I felt really alone, I felt really bitter. I felt sort of like a wounded animal lashing out. I felt like I had to reset everything. I had to deconstruct an entire belief system for my own personal sanity.”

“I also was falling in love with someone who had a really wonderful, normal, balanced, grounded life and we decided together that we wanted our relationship to be private. Even though it was really horrible, I was happy but I wasn’t happy in the way I’d been trained to be happy. It was happiness without anyone else’s input. We were just… we were happy.”

How anyone can watch Miss Americana and come away thinking that 2014 - 2016 was a happy, healthy time in her life is utterly beyond me. She describes feeling isolated, unsupported and developing an eating disorder that left her feeling sick and constantly exhausted.

‘They are the hunters, we are the foxes’ (I Know Places)

Deer are the sacred animal of the Roman Goddess Diana, the moon is her symbol, and she’s a huntress in the woods. In the Lover music video we see Taylor blowing out the candles of her cake with her person and there’s a painting of a fox hunt. It’s all signaling Dianna pretty loudly in my opinion.

Soon after the L Chat notices that Dianna has a picture of Wisteria on her pinterest board.

Someone leaks the Midnights tracklist, Taylor’s lawyers get it taken down but most of us have already seen it and realize it must be real when she takes legal action.

7 October 2022 - Lavender Haze Gate

After Lavender Haze is announced, Taylor puts an explanation reel on her instagram. In it she says that the song is based on a line from Mad Men where one of the characters says ‘you’re in the lavender haze’. Taylor goes on to say it was a commonly used phrase in the 50’s about being in love, and that the song is about how she’s had to avoid ‘weird rumors’ in her 6 year relationship. Over the next few hours the fandom devolves into chaos. The homophobic Swifties are insisting that she’s calling out the fans who think Taylor’s Queer and many Gaylors seem to think thats what she’s done too. Taylor Nation proceeds to retweet, like and comment on pictures of m/f appearing couples ‘in a Lavender Haze’, they do not interact with pictures shared by any m/m or f/f appearing couples even though they are tagged in them. The Gaylor Swift sub goes private, ousting all unverified members.

The following week is filled with online debate, over twitter, tumblr, instagram, and especially TikTok some of the nastiest homophobia I’ve ever seen with queer Swifties and even LGBT people outside the fandom jumping into the fray.

Several content creators try to explain that the issue is that claiming that Lavender Haze was a commonly used phrase about love, denies the connection Lavender has to the queer community and that the 50’s was actually when the Lavender Scare occurred, and that Taylor Nation actively condoned in the cultural appropriation of Lavender. The community did extensive research and was unable to find evidence of Lavender Haze being used in the 50’s outside of the one Mad Men reference, and someone adding it to Urban Dictionary after the mad men episode. We did find poems and studies where Lavender Haze was used to describe queer relationships. However, we rapidly entered into what we’ve named Lavender Gate or Lavender Hazegate. People were doxed, and told to kill themselves, all while Taylor remained silent.

Some amusing new Urban Dictionary definitions for Lavender Haze were added, this one’s my favorite:

When Midnights finally dropped, it turned out the ‘weird rumors’ were marriage and pregnancy rumors and not Gaylor speculation. Taylor Nation finally starts liking and retweeting and Lavender Haze posts by wlw swifties and Taylor even likes a few Gaylor tiktoks. That combined with the damn near explicit queerness of the album brings about dozens of new Gaylor conversions (But honestly, baby who’s counting? One, Two, Three.) and some interesting conversation on the Taylor Swift subreddit. To top it all off Taylor uses the font from the Stonewall Inn for her Lavender Haze shirts.

12 October 2022 - Dianna crashes the W-Magazine 50th Anniversary party

Karlie is a part owner of the magazine, and was of course there that night. Dianna wasn’t officially invited but went as the +2 of Selby Drummond, CEO of Bumble. She dressed like the Midnights album cover and made sure to be seen in multiple photos talking with everyone.

Our own u/alfaragh____ attends the first show, sending us pics and videos along with the first people to see it. One of the most notable Swiftgron moments happens during LWYMMD when Taylor approaches one of her many selves in glass closets, the cheerleader from Shake It Off, slaps her ass, and then presses her hand against the cheerleaders through the glass.

She also burns down the Lover House. I’ve written some thoughts about the new Lover House here.

There are also a few moments that seem to refer to Karlie. The 1975 song About You being played around her performance of Lover.

I know the 1975 was the concert Kissgate happened at, but the lyrics to the song are all about missing someone you haven’t forgotten, and want to hold on to. Hold On was the song Taylor played on repeat when she was trying to convince herself not to leave for NYC.

And a moment when she walks down a checkerboard runway holding hands with a guy, mirroring the VSFS walk.(It’s worth noting that checkerboard floors appeared in ME! And IBYTAM and are common in Wonderland)

Honestly, I think the last two are references to Kaylor. It was the most visible part of her queer history and she often uses it for cover. None of these suggest that Kaylor is still on, just that they were at one point which we know.
