- Adam Mania and Steve Cebertowicz raced successfully at the Charlotte UltraSwim Grand Prix in North Carolina last weekend. Both swimmers are pointing toward June’s World Championship Trials in Indy.

- Join the team at the Ball Game! The Lakeshore Chinooks are the local Northwoods League team for Semi-Pro baseball - top college players from around the USA. It’s fun, low key and cooler by the lake in mid July at a really nice field in Grafton. Each ticket gets you in the game and a ball cap and $5.00 goes back to the WSAC. ($15.00 per ticket) Swim Team, Dive Team and Masters all to be included.
- The Central Zone Multicultural Meet and Central Zone Open Water Championships are two new meets that will be contests where athletes will represent “Team Wisconsin” rather than Schroeder or SSTY. If you are interested in either meet, please talk to your group coach for more information and how to sign up with Wisconsin Swimming coordinators.

- The summer training schedule is finalized for athletes at the WSAC. We will offer a hybrid schedule during the week of June 9 - 15 and the fully switch to the summer schedule on June 16 - the reason for this is varying school calendars.

Schroeder South
1. Parents, We Need Your Help!
We are challenging every family on the team to recruit one swimmer for our special new member summer session. You are the best ambassadors for Schroeder South.
So tell your friends and neighbors we have a special new member summer session from June 15th – August 8th. Potential swimmers must be able swim one length of the pool (25 yards) freestyle and backstroke. Families can arrange for a personal tryout time by calling Coach Dan at 414-979-9163, or they can come to the team tryout on Saturday, June 15th, 10:00 a.m., at Greendale High School pool.
We’ll have a flyer with the details for you so you can pass it on to someone you think may be interested. If you’d like more than one flyer, just let us know. So spread the word!

The Schroeder South practice schedule has been revised for the spring and summer. All groups have some changes, but Groups 1 and 2 have the majority of them. To make practice attendance more convenient for Group 1 and 2 swimmers, we have eliminated all of the practices previously scheduled at the Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer, and we have rescheduled them at the Pulaski County Pool. Please check the schedule closely on a regular basis to eliminate any confusion as to where practice is to be held.

Shorewood Meet @WSAC June 7 – 9 is due on May 15th
Bird Bath Invite @Erb Park in Appleton July 12 – 14 is also due on May 15th
Elmbrook 8 & Under Meet @Brookfield East June 7th is due on May 21st
4. May 8th Spring Pentathlon Swimmers of the Meet:
After each meet, one swimmer from SST-Y South Group 1 and one from South Group 2 will be acknowledged as the Swimmer of the Meet. A number of criteria will be considered for this honor, including meet performance, practice attendance, improvement, sportsmanship, positive attitude, swimming an event legally for the first time, etc.
Congratulations to Owen Feest, Group 2, who had major time drops at the meet. Owen’s practice attendance has been outstanding, and as a result of his hard work, he dropped 14 seconds in his 50 backstroke and 15 seconds in his 50 breast.
Josh Nazareth, Group 1, also has great practice attendance, and he swam best times. Josh has been working hard on his breast kick, and it’s paying off. He is an overall strong kicker, and that really comes through when he races. Congratulations, Josh.
5. Swim Meet Information (Including Spring/Summer Meets):
To help with your planning for the upcoming Long Course (spring/summer) season, we’ve listed below the meets we are planning to attend for each group.
We want to remind families that the staff does expect swimmers to compete in all of the meets for their group. We are a competitive swim team, and swim meet participation is a part of being on the team.
We hope that by having the schedule in advance, families can plan accordingly and attend all of the meets scheduled for their swimmer’s group.
We do realize conflicts can and will happen. When they come up, we ask the parent to decline the meet online and add a note explaining the conflict. This is a great help to the coaching staff as we do the meet entry for each meet.
If you have any questions at all regarding the meets, please contact your swimmer’s coach.
2013 Long Course Meet Schedule
- Meets marked with an * are held in a 50 Meter pool. Group 1 & 2 swimmers will be allowed to compete in these meets with coach approval when the coach feels the swimmer is ready to compete in a 50 Meter pool. Questions about this should be directed to the swimmer’s coach.
- SSTY Mini Meets are meets exclusively for Schroeder swimmers designed to give the swimmers/parents swim meet experience in a low key situation. It is hoped all Group 1 & 2 swimmers will take advantage of these meets. The meets will only last about 1 and 1/2 hours.
- The 6/7/13 Elmbrook 8 & Under Meet is only for swimmers 8 and younger. It is a very fun meet for these swimmers. Three age groups are offered:
6 & Under, 7 year olds, and 8 year olds, so all swimmers compete against swimmers of the same age.
- The Birdbath Invitational on July 12-14 is in an outdoor park pool and has
been a traditional, fun meet for all Schroeder families. Some families drive
back and forth, some stay overnight and some even camp out at the park. We highly recommend this meet as a great meet for the whole family to attend.
- Wisconsin Silver Championships on July 19-21. This meet is for swimmers of every group who have less than 6 Wisconsin State Championship qualifying times. It is also an opportunity for those with 6 or more state qualifying times to try to qualify for events that they do not have and that might be better state events for them. These are usually longer events that are not offered much throughout the season.
Finally, it is the championship meet of the season for non-state swimmers, as well as the final opportunity for the non-state swimmers to qualify for the state championships. All non-state swimmers and swimmers with less than 6 state times are expected to attend this final meet.
