OPTION 1
I am writing to formally request a public apology from Southern Cross Austereo, Triple M, and Marty Sheargold regarding the harmful comments he made on Tuesday, 25th February, in which he stated that endometriosis is "made up."
While I understand that Marty has since departed the network, nearly 1 million Australians with endometriosis were excluded from the Triple M media release issued on Wednesday, 26th February. This omission is particularly disappointing considering Southern Cross Austereo's two-year partnership with a national endometriosis organization as part of "SCA Embrace."
The endometriosis patient community feels anything but embraced by Southern Cross Austereo. Your failure to acknowledge the harm caused by Marty's comments, and the ongoing struggle for those affected by endometriosis to be believed and receive adequate treatment, only amplifies this sentiment.
As we approach Endometriosis Awareness Month, it is crucial that this issue be addressed immediately. The community deserves acknowledgment and respect, and we ask for a public apology to demonstrate your commitment to support and understanding.
OPTION 2:
I am writing to request a formal public apology from Southern Cross Austereo, Triple M, and Marty Sheargold for the deeply harmful comments made on Tuesday, 25th February, where he referred to endometriosis as “made up.”
Although I understand Marty has since departed the network, the Triple M media release issued on Wednesday, 26th February, failed to address the concerns of the nearly 1 million Australians living with endometriosis. This oversight is especially troubling given Southern Cross Austereo’s partnership with a national endometriosis organization through the “SCA Embrace” initiative.
The endometriosis community has long struggled for acknowledgment, proper care, and adequate treatment. Unfortunately, your response thus far has only added to the feeling of exclusion. Instead of fostering the intended support, this situation has left many in the community feeling disrespected and unheard.
With Endometriosis Awareness Month approaching, this is an important moment to make amends. We respectfully request an apology that properly acknowledges the harm caused by Marty’s remarks and reaffirms Southern Cross Austereo’s commitment to supporting the endometriosis community.
