Editor’s Corner

Jai Jinendra,

The year seems to be flying by!  Already, we are done with the last major event of the year.  In many ways, Camp Lalit puts an exclamation point to the whole year, and its success makes for a sweet and gentle reminder to the close of it.

The success of Camp Lalit was highlighted by numerous volunteers, decidedly led by Kamleshbhai Shah (the calm tiger in the middle of the chaos); and our honorable guest, Shri Saman Shrutpragyaji, who led a great set of discourses and exercises (is anyone’s body still hurting?!?).

Many thanks to all, in helping make Camp Lalit 2014, yet another success!

Please read on for an important announcement regarding lunch at the October monthly meeting.

Camp Lalit - 2014

As mentioned above, Camp Lalit was another success this year.  Under Kamleshbhai’s leadership, everything went as smoothly as expected.  We were also fortunate to have Shri Saman Shrutpragyaji, who led us in several discourses, with the main topic on Samyak Darshan, and exercises such as Surya Namaskar.   This would also not be possible without Kiritbhai/Jyotiben Shah and Ramnikbhai/Lataben Zota’s support in hosting Shri Shrutpragyaji during his stay here.  Thanks to all for making this enlightening journey possible.

We would like to thank Rekhaben Banker for sponsoring the Saturday lunch for adults and pizzas for kids.  A huge thanks too, to all the volunteers who tirelessly executed their duties in the kitchen, in the hall, and most of all, keeping the kids occupied while the rest of us could enjoy the discourses.

Thanks also to our photographers - Harshadbhai Shah and Maheshbhai Varia.  Due to their efforts, we have been able to compile some highlights in the form of pictures, and placed them for your viewing pleasure at the following link:

Committee 2015

JSCNC is blessed to have a very solid volunteer base.  If you are interested in serving in the Committee next year, please forward your name to Anand Shah.

Highway Cleanup

Our center participates in Adopt-A-Highway cleanup twice a year.  The statewide Adopt-A-Highway program was established in 1988 and is a joint effort between community volunteers and NC Department of Transportation to keep our roads clean.  JSCNC adopted a stretch of Highway 54 in Cary between Morrisville Parkway and Airport Boulevard. This stretch is named in honor of Mr. Lalit Banker.

We will continue this tradition at the upcoming Fall clean up this October 12th.  This is a fun activity for children and adults, and shows our commitment to our community.  Every child will get a certificate for participating in this community service.

Meeting Details:

9AM on Sunday October 12th

Neomonde Restaurant on Route 54

10235 Chapel Hill Road (Hwy. 54), Morrisville, NC 27560

Please call Priteshbhai at (919) 609-6301 or email at gujjunc@yahoo.com if you have any questions.   Also, please RSVP Priteshbhai by Thursday, October 9th, if you would like to participate in this outdoor activity.

Background info:
CROP Hunger Walks help children and families worldwide - and right here in North Carolina - to have food for today, while building for a better tomorrow. Our local efforts are making a huge difference, and so can you.

The CROP Hunger Walk is the heart and "sole" of Raleigh! It is the only event that brings together all members of our community - young and old, all faiths and walks of life for a common goal - to end hunger, one step at a time! Our Walk engages a broad cross-section of the community in service to the neediest of the world. It is an interfaith, community-oriented event that (1) raises funds to help hungry people, (2) raises awareness of hunger as an issue, (3) engages and trains volunteers for community service, and (4) brings together persons of many ages and backgrounds in a common endeavor.

There are solutions. Working together, we can build a world where there is enough for all.
