‘The Empire Ball’, The Lady, 24 April 1924

The Duchess of Marlborough, wearing a sable cloak over a frock of bronze charmeuse, received the guests at the tea-dance at Claridge’s on Tuesday, given in connection with the Empire Ball, which is to take place on the 30th April at The Hill, Hampstead, lent by Lord Leverhulme, and is in aid of the People's League of Health. A costume pageant will be a chief feature of the Ball, with prizes for the costumes best descriptive of the Empire, and Mr. Philip de Laszlo has promised to paint the portrait of the first prize winner [13294].
