Private Collection

This is a study for a more formal painting that remains in the collection of a descendant of the artist [8916]. The diadem was a studio prop and appears in a number of portraits, including: An Unidentified Lady [111532], Grafin Dezasse de Petit-Verneuil [4881] and Viscountess Grimston [4734].

Recto is a study portrait of Emperor Franz Joseph [9024].
