1. Regulations and rules of the event

The event is classified as an UCI cat 2.12 event. Race is open for UCI women’s teams, national teams and regional & club teams, and also for independent riders.

The event will be raced under UCI and Suomen Pyöräilyunioni ry (Finnish Cycling Federation) rules and those specific rules stated in this Technical Guide. The participants are to obey also the Finnish law applicable to the event, as well as the instructions given by the organizers.

The participating individuals are solely responsible for any damage they cause to themselves or to others involved. The organizers have a liability insurance required by the law.

The UCI anti-doping regulations are entirely applicable to the event. Moreover, and in conformity with the law of Finland, the Finnish anti-doping legislation is applicable in addition to the UCI anti-doping regulations.

The team manager is responsible for ensuring that the team members are aware of all regulations, rules, and instructions given here and during the event by the organizers.

Only the UCI scale of penalties will apply in the event.

Prologue is a 2.6 km time trial

6th May

Stage 1.1: Time trial 10 km

4. Time limit and time bonuses

The finishing time limit is

  • 30% in time trial stages
  • 20% in road race stages

calculated from the winner's time.

Time bonuses for stage finish will be awarded in the road race stages (stage 1.2 and 2) for the first three riders:

Stage 1.2 (Saturday)

  • one intermediate sprint (at 41 km, when the first lap is completed)
  • time bonuses for the intermediate sprints are 3, 2, and 1 seconds
  • time bonuses are 6, 4, and 2 seconds consecutively.

Stage 2 (Sunday)

  • two intermediate sprints (at 32 and
    62 km, when the 3rd and 6th lap is completed).
  • time bonuses for the intermediate sprints are 3, 2, and 1 seconds
  • time bonuses are 10, 6, and 4 seconds consecutively.

The result of the stage race is the sum of the total individual race time minus bonus seconds.

NOTE: All riders must be at the start 15 minutes prior to their start time for the final bike check.

6. Race numbers

The starting order of the teams for the time trial is set by the organizer (please add the order you have defined).

Team representatives are requested to confirm their starters and collect their team’s race numbers at the event office from 5.00-5.30 p.m. on 5th May 2017.

During the race the two numbers must be positioned:

  • Friday & Saturday:  in the middle of the back of the jersey as low as possible and on the left hand side of the jersey sideways.
  • Sunday: in the middle of the back of the jersey as low as possible and on the right hand side of the jersey sideways.
  • Bike numbers below the saddle backways.

Numbers must be returned to the event office, in the box provided for the numbers. Teams/participants will be fined 30€ per non-returned number.

Transponders are to be place in the front fork, right hand side.

Prologue: Time trial 2.6 km

From Kansalaistori square, near Musiikkitalo (Music hall) along “Baana” bike path 1.3 km to the turning point under Porkkala bridge, from where back along “Baana”. When coming back, straight forward after the final tunnel to the finish line.

NOTE: Braking area after the finish line is short.

Start/finish: Kansalaistori

Stage 1.1: Time trial 10 km

From Seutula school along Katriinantie to the South-East to the turning point, and back. 10 km.

Stage 1.2: Road race 82 km

Two laps of 41 km from Seutula school clockwise. Finish line 100 meters before school.

The track is marked by arrow signs. The track is not closed from other traffic. Crossing the middle of the road to the lane of oncoming traffic is not allowed. The organizers make effort to stop the oncoming traffic by the side of the road when the race passes by. The competitors must take care and pay attention to possible oncoming and other traffic.

Start/finish: Katriinantie 60, Vantaa

8. Service cars

Organization will set three neutral service vehicles.

On stages 1.1, 1.2 and 2 (road races) service cars are allowed. The cars must be marked with the numbers that are dealt out at the team managers’ meeting, both in the windscreen and rear window.

The team leading the race will have number 1, and the others accordingly. That makes also the driving order. The service cars will move to follow the competitors at the Katriinankuja crossing (leading to the Katriina hospital).

9. Results

The race has a UCI 2.12 status. Three best will be awarded after the prologue and stages, as well as for the leader of the general competition after every stage. Three best teams will be awarded for the general team competition.

Total prize money is 1770 €. The awarded prizes will be paid to the team account.

3rd: Stage 60 €

1st: 200 €

2nd: 150 €

3rd: 100 €

4th: 70 €

5th: 50 €

If a participant needs a printed version, it will be given out to the team representative/manager.

Team classification is based on the times of three best riders of the team on each stage.

Where two or more riders make the same time in the general individual time placings, the fractions of a second registered during individual time trials (including the prologue) shall be added back into the total time to decide the order.

If the result is still tied or if there are no individual time trial stages the placings obtained in each stage, except team time trial stages, shall be added and, as a last resort, the place obtained in the last stage ridden shall be taken into consideration.

The team classification for the day shall be calculated on the basis of the sum of the three best individual times from each team except the team time trial that is governed by the specific regulation of the event. In the event of a tie, the teams shall be separated by the sum of the places acquired by their three best times on the stage. If the teams are still tied, they shall be separated by the placing of their best rider on the stage classification.

The team general classification shall be calculated on the basis of the sum of the three best individual times from each team in each stage ridden. In the event of a draw, the following criteria shall be applied in order until the teams are separated:

1. number of first places in the daily team classifications;

2. number of second places in the daily team classifications;

etc.

If there is still a draw, the teams shall be separated by the placing of their best rider in the general individual classification.

Any team reduced to fewer than three riders shall be eliminated from the general team classification.

Classification and award ceremony

The yellow jersey will be assigned to the leader in the general individual classification by time. Furthermore a team classification will be drawn up.

After each stage the first three riders of the stage and the leader of the general individual classification by time must be present at the award ceremenony. The ceremony for the stage 1.1 will take place after the stage 1.2

For the final ceremony after stage 2 the first 3 riders of the stage, the first 3 riders of the general inidivual classification by time and the winner of the team classification must be present.
