Over 50’s rules
- All matches to be played as best of 5 games, American scoring (to 15). If the score in any game reaches 14-all, the receiver can elect to “no set” or “set 3”, whereby first to 15 or 17 respectively takes the game.
- Each player is assigned a handicap which will be marked up on the draw. This is subject to change by the organisers. Please record your score on the draw to enable handicaps to be reviewed.
- In a change to recent competitions (because games have taken too long and given the wide handicaps in the draw), The Loser of each game will increase his handicap by 2 points. Therefore, if a player with a handicap of +3 loses set 1, he starts set 2 on +5. If he loses set 2 he starts on +7. Only the loser of each game adjusts his handicap score.
- You must ensure you keep to the timetable and contact your opponent as soon as possible. If the match has not been played by the due date marked on the draw, the second player in the draw passes through unless all reasonable steps have been taken by the first named player to arrange a game. If you are unable to fulfil your fixture please let your opponent know as soon as possible to keep the momentum of the tournament going. Courts have not been booked except for semi-finals and finals night. If players require a referee for semi finals, please let Jonathan Norrie know on 07745 168325 or 0131 338 2295 and every effort will be made to provide one.
