Dry Biltong Traditional

Tasty

Twice the salt of traditional jerky

Chewier, this is a good thing imho.

Traditional Jerky

Tastes almost as good

A slightly healthier option (10% less calories), half the salt of Biltong.

Smokey Jerky

Unique flavour, too much of it would be a bad thing, but quite nice.

May be a little over peppered.

Medium Biltong Traditional

“Medium” seems to mean half-way between “dry” and “moist”,

Very Tasty, due to medium - along with the moist variety - having about 10% more fat. Tastes like delicious ribs.

Tenderer, less chewy.

Traditional

A typical jerky.

Teriyaki

I have no idea why people flavour jerky with this, it’s not terrible, but there’s no need.

Hot Chilli

Not actually that hot, but still made me a little teary. Need to consume smaller pieces at a time. Good for the sinuses!

Also sent Wild Bull some feedback:

I purchased a sample of your product and was disappointed by the labeling.

In order to open the packet, I'm left with what I can only assume is black toner from a laser printer on my fingers. This is potentially unsafe as printed toner may be carcinogenic.

I will not be interested in ordering your product unless the labeling is changed.

Biltong chunks

Quite chewy and salty (which can be a good thing)

The worcestershire sauce can get a touch overbearing, which can also be a good thing, because it may limit excessive consumption!

Chilli

If you have a limited cultured palate like me and you only enjoy mild curries (or thai green), this is considerably strong and will definitely increase your water consumption for the day. Despite how spicy it is - it is still ridiculously addictive.

Safari

This jerky is a perfect balance. The tiny amount of spices add flavour, without being spicy, and the salt is a much stronger component.

Honey Soy

Yum! A sweeter flavour, but not overly so. Still has a touch of spice!

BBQ

Fantastic flavour for jerky. Can get a touch overbearing, but is still totally addictive.

Korma

Has a ‘unique’ flavour balance (loved by some, hated by most), consuming large amounts may be slightly odd.

Original

Just under half the pieces are incredibly tender jerky, almost the next half are the slight chewiness I expect jerky to be, and then one or two pieces per bag are incredibly chewy. The flavour mix is unique (perhaps the smoke flavour is just a little excessive), it’s also quite possibly too sweet (especially if you are after a saltier flavour).

A different bag was all nice and tender, no mixed consistency.

BBQ

Mixed tenderness like my first bag of original. Kinda peppery. Prefer Original.

Teriyaki

This is way better than BBQ. Not at all peppery. Just nice and sweet!

Protea Foods (Woolworths)

Regular Price

Discontinued ?

Incredibly tough/chewy, quite peppery (especially as you need to allow it to ‘melt’ on your tongue, to actually be able to chew it).

Geronimo

Forgot to write tasting notes. Notable mention:

Caffeinated jerky ftw!

Bulgogi

- Amazing, sweet. My favourite jerky at the moment.

Beef Jerky

- Reasonably peppery. Again similar to Jack Links.

Pork

- Way too sweet and a little weird.

Hot

- I guess I’ll have to buy it to see how hot it is :>
