Homework Assignment

Room 21

This week your assignment is to write a personal narrative about your participation in Portland: The Musical.  Monday and Tuesday you will do your prewriting, brainstorming all you can think of about the play; the rehearsals, learning the songs, trying out for a solo, finding out your part or parts, getting your costume together, memorizing lines.  Try to add the sensory details that will bring your narrative to life.  

Wednesday, after our performance, we’ll write about the live theater experience; the lights, the audience, the applause!  We’ll brainstorm, as a class, our feelings and things we remember.  

Finally, you’ll pull this all together into a narrative.  It will have a compelling opening that catches the reader’s attention, lots of details and feelings, funny incidents and such.  The closing will tell the reader why this is such an important memory for you to hold close to your heart.  Already I’m excited to read what your produce!

You’ll do this work through your Google account and your writing journal.  If this isn’t going to be possible, you will need to let me know so that I can help you find another way to publish your work.
