Prayers for the Faithful by St. Patrick
May the Strength of God guide us.
May the Power of God preserve us.
May the Wisdom of God instruct us.
May the Hand of God protect us.
May the Way of God direct us.
May the Shield of God defend us.
May the Angels of God guard us.

May Christ be before us!
May Christ be in us,
Christ be over all!
May Thy Grace, Lord,
Always be ours,

Entrepreneurial Adventure Program
Miss Hodgins Grade 5 students and Miss Beardsley’s Grade 5/6 students are taking part in an Entrepreneurial Adventure program and developing innovative ways to raise money for the World Wildlife Fund. They are asking for donations, as well as participation in the events described below. The class that raises the most money during our Spirit Week will win freezies for the entire class.
Monday, March 7 - Crazy Hair/Hat Day
On Wednesday (Mr. Santos Day), raffle tickets will be sold for the chance to win lunch with Mr. Santos in his office. Tickets for this draw will be sold for $1.00 each.
On Thursday (Colour Day), each class is asked to dress in their assigned colour:
Kindergarten - Orange
On Tuesday, March 8th, students will be able to purchase photo booth pictures for $1.00 each. The photo booth will be available on “Dress as your favourite Character/Celebrity Day.” A variety of animal stuffies will also be available to pose with and students are welcome to bring their own stuffy as well.
The photo booth will be held in the foyer at the following times:
9:00-10:00 - Kindergarten
On Tuesday, March 8th, the student group will also be selling tickets for a chance to win a raffle basket. The tickets will be sold at the photo booth from 9:00-2:30. The winner will be announced at 2:50 that day. Five raffle tickets will be sold for $1.00 and an arm’s length of tickets will cost $3.00. Participating students will need to write their first and last name, as well as their grade on their purchased raffle tickets.
Earth Hour is an international event that will take place on Saturday, March 19th from 8:30-9:30 pm. During this hour, citizens around the world turn off their lights and electronics in support of addressing climate change.
Schools typically participate on the Friday prior to the official Earth Hour by turning off all non-essential electricity for one hour during the school day.
At St. Stephen, we will be having our school-wide Earth Hour on Friday, March 11 from 12:30-1:30. For those families that would like to participate in the actual Earth Hour on March 19th, and would ideas and more information, please refer to the letter that will be sent home before the March Break
We are hopeful that the students from grades one to six will have the opportunity to learn more about environmental issues and the importance of caring for our environment through a presentation during the month of March by the University of Ottawa campus Sustainability Manager, Jonathan Rausseo. The University of Ottawa is currently recognized as the 27th most sustainable university in the world and the second most sustainable in Canada! More information to follow.
