Prerequisite: Honors Art I and teacher approval.

This is an advanced art class that prepares serious art students for AP Art. Students will learn critical thinking and problem solving skills. During the course of the year students will explore the following areas: figure drawing, including gesture and contour drawing, proper proportions of the figure and creating a 3D wire schema. Art History is studied, critiqued and used as curriculum inspiration. Painting and mixed media will also be emphasized. Students will be expected to participate in weekly sketchbook homework and projects, mat cutting, gallery exhibitions, and group critiques. A final portfolio is required to pass the class.
