1st Hour: 8th Grade, 3rd Quarter, 2016-2017

**Extra Credit is emailed out each week - take advantage of each of these extra credit opportunities.  Once the opportunity expires, it is too late to get that extra credit.  Extra credit can only help you grade.

**You also have “PLUS POINTS” you could use to boost a score.  You have 2 sets of “PLUS POINTS”, be sure to use them.  Your “PLUS POINTS” expire each quarter - do not let them go to waste.

“Race Against the Clock: Fun Facts (45 facts)”

Students type the 45 facts throughout the entire class period.

Students print (done or not done) at the end of the class period.

The number of facts typed is their score.

The facts are less than a full line of type - no facts are more than one line.

First 10-minutes with “keyboard skin” on the keyboard.

Practice your keyboard skills whenever you have a chance - this is a skill you will use for a long time.

“8 Keyboarding Races:  4 covered and 4 uncovered”

Students have the entire class period to complete a total of 8 Typing Races (from my website).

4 Typing Races must be completed with the keyboarding skin ON.  Students need to ‘snip’ the results of each race and copy-and-paste into WORD.

4 Typing Races will be completed with the keyboarding skin OFF.  Students need to ‘snip’ the results of each race and copy-and-paste into WORD.

Students should then find their average speed and average accuracy with the skin ON.

Print and turn in.

Take a look at the same PBIS-PSA Episodes - one is the original, and the second has adjustments … notice the adjustments.

Keep in mind the target audience …

Brainstorm (through Google doc) ideas to improve different episodes via:

  1. Still Pictures
  2. Sound Effects
  3. Colorful Backgrounds
  4. Explanatory Text
  5. Upbeat Message
  6. Direct Message

Each episode must have a clear message.

Start thinking - what is your vision for a clear message.

Without a clear vision, you cannot focus and plan.

Select an episode to work on, it could be one that you worked on before…

IF it is one you worked on before, it needs to have noticeable improvements and adjustments made.

You are flying solo for this project, you will each create your own episode.  You have ask others to help in a video or to shoot the video, but you will do your OWN script-writing, directing, editing, producing, and publishing.

Scripts must be thorough - scripts are due on MONDAY when you walk in the door.

Start writing now - it should be more than a half-a-page … map it out … you must have a clear vision.  Without a clear vision, you cannot focus and plan.
