What is the purpose of a working group?

The purpose of our working groups is to provide a convenient, exclusive online space where members can get answers to difficult questions. This is the core of GreenLeaders DC’s knowledge brokerage function. By leveraging the connecting power of video conferencing, working group members participate in a relationship-driven peer to peer learning environment. Working groups also provide a space to practice online collaboration skills, produce video marketing and training materials, and create a video branding portfolio.

Ultimately, our purpose is to create win-win professional relationships and increase prosperity for all our members through face-to-face discussion and interaction.

What are the features of a working group?

Working groups are based on a virtual “open room” concept, delivered through a members-only online portal. Once inside the virtual room, we encourage members to reach to one another to introduce themselves. Each working group is based on a theme, ensuring that fellow members share common interests.

Each member receives a personalized profile on the working group portal. Plus, working groups feature a range of live interactive online activities that members can participate in. Our face-to-face video conferencing facility allows you to create online meetings for in-depth discussion with full administrative support:

What kind of benefits can I expect from membership?

Working groups offer an ideal context to develop skills and content. Members position themselves to take advantage of technology-driven change impacting public affairs, human resources, marketing, training, and many other industries:

How do I become a working group member?

Becoming a member of a working group is easy. Simply go to our website and submit the membership application form. We’ll send an electronic invoice that you can pay online or by check. You’ll receive a receipt and confirmation via email.

Are there any requirements for membership?

The only requirement is a Gmail account in order to participate in Google Hangouts.

Can I try it out before I join?

Yes, we offer a 30-day trial for anyone who is considering membership. Feel free to check out the project facilities, reach out to fellow members on the working group portal, and contact us for additional information.

What happens when I become a member of a working group?

After you have submitted your membership payment, our staff will create your working group profile. We’ll send you a form to complete with required and optional information. Once received, you’ll receive access to the online portal. We’ll use the form information to complete your profile and send it over for your approval. You may revise your profile at any time by contacting GreenLeaders DC staff.

At this point, you’re free to contact other members and use the project facilities. You’ll receive regular updates on group activities, speaking opportunities, and group projects.

Can members create their own projects through the working group?

Absolutely. We encourage members to interact with each other and take initiative to create joint presentations, host roundtables, and develop online training sessions. We consider working groups to be a “sandbox” where members can try new ideas and develop new skills individually and in groups.

GreenLeaders DC’s role is to provide the guidance, support, and administrative facilities to make member initiatives a success.

How much does a membership cost?

Memberships are available at two levels:

For an additional $50 fee, we provide a Google Hangouts orientation and best practice session for those new to online collaboration. Additional service fees may apply to services supporting projects requested by members.

How do I keep up to date on working group developments?

We send out a regular email newsletter to members and regularly post updates and announcements on the working group portal. As always, feel free to reach out to GreenLeaders DC staff directly with questions, comments, or ideas.
