The Secretary & General Manager,
Blind Institution,
257/8, TOTTENHAM COURT ROAD,
London, W.1.
March 7th, 1929.
Dear Madam,
You have been good enough in the past to give your kind and practical support to this Institution, and I am venturing to you again in our present need. As I think you know, we acquired a new Workshop about eighteen months ago at a cost of some £15,000. This Workshop was urgently needed, not only to cope with our ever-expanding work, but to enable all our Workers to be accommodated in healthy and airy rooms.
Of the sum named £10, 186 has been raised, leaving a balance of £4, 814 which the Institution owes to the Bank. I am making a special effort to raise this money before Easter, and I hope that you will see your way to give me a contribution. It is seldom that our old friends fail to rally to our support in times of need, and I am confident
that I shall be able to wipe out this debt.
With many thanks for your past support, | Yours faithfully,
Carlos B Wilson
Chairman of the Appeal Committee
P.S. Now that the Bank Rate has been raised it is doubly important for us to find this money QUICKLY. Will you please help? For economy’s sake I am sending this letter under a half-penny stamp.
