If the device stops working at home, students should follow the troubleshooting steps listed in the 1:1 section on the Cape Public Schools Website.

  1. What happens if my child forgets to bring it to school?

The device is a vital part of the instructional process.  Students will be required to have their device, fully charged, each day.  If a student forgets to bring their device, they will have a “loaner” device checked out to them for the day, and normal discipline procedures will be followed.

Yes, all student devices will include a protective sleeve.  The device should be carried in the sleeve at all times.

  1. Will headphones be provided?

Yes, a pair of headphones will be provided with each student device.  Students may also use their own headphones.

  1. Will there be any training for me and/or my child on how to use the device?

Yes, we will have parent meetings in the Summer before roll-out.  During this meeting we will discuss the device, care and maintenance, 1:1 logistics, and more.  There will also be additional, ongoing training for the students during the school year.  All resources and training materials will be accessible on the resource site: 1to1.capetigers.com

  1. We already have a laptop, can my child use that instead?

No, all students will be required to use a school-issued device.

  1. How will they turn in assignments?

Student will turn in work in a variety of ways.  Some work may be turned in digitally via email, Moodle, and Google Drive.  Some work may still be turned in on paper.

  1. Will there be any content filtering for the internet to keep my child safe online?

Yes, all student devices will be filtered through the school district’s content filtering system.  The devices will be filtered at all times, including at school and at home.

  1. Will the students have their own email addresses?

Yes, all students have been issued a Gmail account as part of our Google Apps in Education program.  These email addresses are for school use only and may be monitored by appropriate school district personnel.
