Sex, Drugs & Rock n Roll:

Media Campaign

You work for an advertising agency that has been asked to create a media campaign to increase awareness among teenagers about a social issue that could impact their lives. The campaign must have a consistent message across multiple media platforms.

In groups, you can choose from the following categories or go it alone with one of your own.

  • Educating about binge drinking
  • Encouraging safe partying
  • Awareness campaign on a particular drug
  • Educating about alcohol’s impact on the community

  • Educating the community on drug addiction
  • Effects of peer pressure on teenagers and how to avoid making negative decisions because of it
  • A different campaign you suggest to your BYTES teacher

You will need a logo and slogan that will be used across all your platforms. This will be the first thing you will need to do as a group.

Groups of strictly 2-3.

Important things:

  1. Your media campaign will be compiled and “turned in” via a google presentation to your BYTES teacher

  1. Your slogan and logo needs to be the same across all the media platforms you choose - this will require your whole group to work and plan effectively.

  1. Use meeting times at the start and end of each session to communicate regularly and effectively. Set roles and responsibilities for each team member and report back on their progress at the conclusion of sessions.

  1. BYTES Filming Policy: In accordance with the school policy on phones, there can be no use of phones in class. Filming and photography must be done outside of class time - while the short time in class is used to edit, create resources and plan.

Use the BYTES website: mckinnon.sc/bytes to help you plan and create each aspect of your media campaign.
