OVERVIEW
This Valentine's Day, join us in sending love to our immigrant friends and neighbors.
As immigrants across the country are facing threats, increased detention, and persistent, unlawful, and deadly violence at the hands of ICE and other federal agencies, we are joining together to take a moment to reject the dehumanization of immigrants and spread LOVE to our communities.
During the week of February 9th, leading up to Valentine's Day, we are inviting you to host events, participate in online activations, and write letters to immigrants with love. Contribute your voice and your platform to standing in solidarity with immigrants, recognizing their humanity, and drawing attention to the ongoing harm of current immigration policies and extreme actions by federal agents.
How YOU Can Participate
Below is a social media toolkit that you can plug into. In addition to uplifting on social media, we ask that you take action and show up for immigrants in real life:
- Activating online: Share the campaign graphics and sample language using #ToImmigrantsWithLove. Amplify stories, uplift your love letters, and call out harmful policies with a model of solidarity.
- Writing love letters: Publish your message online or print out and use the postcard designs linked here. Address letters to specific people or communities, such as:
- Immigrant teachers
- My immigrant parent
- Immigrant workers and union members
- The immigrant street vendor on my corner
- Immigrant families in detention
- Organizing or participating in a community event or training: Join a Court Watch training or Adopt a Day Labor Corner webinar.
- Supporting local mutual aid efforts and immigrant-serving nonprofits: Volunteer or donate. For opportunities to show love for Minnesota, visit this link.
