This letter provides information and instructions for School Messenger.

Skyline is switching from Alert Now to School Messenger.  School Messenger offers more flexibility and allows for more contact information.  It also allows the district to better target messages to the appropriate audience.

All School Messenger data comes from PowerSchool and is updated every night, so it is important that you call the school to let us know when there are changes in your contact information.

You will have access to your Messenger information inside your PowerSchool parent portal (login).  If you need help logging into your students’ portal, email with your students’ names and your email address so that we can set that up for you.

To access the School Messenger Contact Manager within you PowerSchool Parent Portal account, follow the steps listed below:

  1. Log into your Parent Portal account at
  2. Find this ‘plug’ in the upper right corner of the screen and click on it.      
  3. The Messages tab will show all messages that have been sent to any of your contact numbers. Click on the Contacts tab. Then click on edit.
  4. In the leftmost column, all the phone numbers associated with your student from PowerSchool are listed.  Note that at least one number must have a check for Non-School Hours Emergency, School Hours Emergency, and Attendance.  The other numbers and columns may be edited at your discretion.  Weather and school event announcements fall under the General category.
  5. If you wish to receive messages via text, there is an option for that at the bottom of the edit page.  Enter the text # and choose with message types you’d like to receive via text.
