Editorial Note:

Jenő Boross (1868-1942), American art collector of Hungarian origin, and retired colonel. Boross moved to the United States in 1904. For his philanthropic activities, he was elected a life member of the Metropolitan Museum. He was a close friend of Gábor Térey (1864-1927) [11881] and introduced him to Sir Joseph Duveen (1869-1939). Boross donated Old Master paintings to the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest (six in total, among which are paintings by Jacopo Bassano and Johann Zoffany), the Déry Museum in Debrecen, and to various Church collections.
