Like so many liches, Kel’Thuzad was once a man, but not just any man. Indeed, he was a powerful mage, one of the Council of Six in the Kirin Tor. Unlike his overly safe brethren, Kel’Thuzad wanted to know more about all magics - dark and light - including necromancy.
When the Lich King first sent out mental tendrils, calling to all that would answer, Kel’Thuzad did just that, travelling to the barren wastes of Northrend. He finally made his way to Icecrown where he faced the Lich King and was promised power and immortality for loyalty and obedience.
Helping the Lich King, it was no surprise when he eventually crossed paths with Prince Arthas and was slain for his crimes of spreading infected grain. Later, it would be Arthas that would resurrect Kel’Thuzad and the two would be near inseparable afterwards.
Now reanimated as a giant skeletal lich, Kel’Thuzad helped bring about the rise of the Lich King. Though slain by adventurers many times over, so long as his phylactery remains intact, it seems the people of Warcraft will always have to keep this lich in check.
DeGei Dragon’s Choices
“Biggest issue HotS has (Person Opinion) is a lack of an "Evil" support. Yes, we have evil skins but no support type Villains. I feel Kel'thuzad fills this niche well (Especially since we have plenty of Necro-add summoners). Here's my pitch:”
Role: Ranged Support
Trait: Phylactery - When Kel'thuzad is killed a Phylactery spawns at his location. If not destroyed Kel'thuzad respawns from it after 10 seconds.
Q: Infuse Life - Heals Target Ally.
W: Death and Decay - Deals medium damage to a single target enemy, reducing their attack damage dealt by 15% for 3 Seconds.
E: Frost Blast - Freezes target enemy hero rooting them and dealing minor damage to them and surrounding enemies.
1 - Wail of Souls - Summons a Banshee at a target location which will move towards the nearest Enemy Hero, dealing area damage and causing knockback to all caught in the radius when it reaches them. (Similar to Pyroblast, little slower, less damage)
2 - The Call of Kel'Thuzad - Resurrect the ally Hero with the least time remaining on their death time (if there are no dead allies, summons an allied Bruiser Mercenary with half the Heroic's normal cooldown) at your current location. Longish Cooldown.
Kel’Thuzad was obsessed with studying the forbidden art of necromancy during his time with the Kirin Tor. On the battlefield Kel’Thuzad would be a support hero that uses his knowledge of necromancy to help aid his team in the destruction of the enemy. His somewhat “backwards” spells will be a difficult learning curve- but if mastered, Kel’Thuzad will be a force to be reckoned with. This trait allows Kel’Thuzad to auto heal friendly units in a small circle around him. If Kel’Thuzad is near a friendly hero they will receive with benefit of this trait and the Kel’Thuzad player doesn't have to do a thing!
Mount- Floating Glacier
Q- “FREEZE THE BLOOD IN YOUR VEINS!”
This is Kel’Thuzad’s man “support ability” He selects a friendly hero and is able to freeze their health in place for a short amount of time. This acts like a shield, but it is timed and cannot be destroyed. This does not make them immune to any CC but they can't take damage for a very short amount of time. All damage that is done to the player while they are under the effects of this ability will be returned to the player as health.
W- “Death and Decay” Featured Forged Ability
A Ranged attack that Deals medium damage to a single target enemy, reducing their attack damage dealt by 15% for 3 Seconds.
E- “Detonate Mana”
When this ability is selected the KelThuzad player will select an enemy hero and mark them with Detonate Mana. A portion of this player's mana bar will begin to glow on their screen, and after a short amount of time that portion of mana will explode and be depleted from the player's mana pool. This explosion does small amounts of damage to the enemy units in a small AoE range and also heals friendly heroes in that range. This ability will only work on heroes that have true “mana”
Heroic 1- “Death makes little Difference”
This ability is a AoE resurrection- when selected the player has the the ability to place an AoE circle on the battlefield that will resurrect all fallen heroes on the battlefield (friend or foe) forcing them to become a member of the scourge. These heroes that are resurrected become Ghoul’s and are not controlled by the players that played them before. They are AI and will act as heroes that have melee attacks and will attack all enemies on the battlefield and eventually push the lane that they are closest to once there are no more targets.
Heroic 2- “Shadow Fissure”
Similar to the World of Warcraft encounter with Kel’Thuzad this heroic allows the player to select an enemy hero on the battlefield and summons a Show Fissure below them. This fissure stays on the battlefield for 3 min and if enemy players stay in the fissure the begin to take damage… if they stay in the fissure for too long… they will be killed instantly.
Sacrifices a target friendly unit to convert its health into mana for Kel’thuzad. This works on both minions, mercs and his own summons. If the sacrificed unit is either a minion or a merc, the enemy team will get that XP.
Forms while it is being summoned.
Extremely short cooldown (think Li Li’s cups) that does decent damage and slows target hero.
Frost Blast - Featured Forger Ability
When a frostbolt lands on an enemy Hero, Kel’Thuzad has the opportunity to detonate it for a few seconds. When this happens, an explosion of frost radiates outward, freezing and stunning target enemy hero while dealing minor damage to them and surrounding enemies.
Guardians of Ice Crown
Two small Anuba’bros enter from tiny portals that appear on the field. They target whatever Kel’thuzad targets.
Chains of Kel’Thuzad
Given to him by Ner’zhul, these chains allow Kel’Thuzad to charm and control a target enemy hero. Now under the lich’s command, the charmed Hero can be moved by Kel’Thuzad and will immediately begin basic attacking the closest enemy Hero. The charmed Hero’s damage is increased during this.
It’s no secret that Kel’Thuzad loves to fight with friends. After a short channeling effect, Kel’Thuzad brings Archimonde, eredar warlock to the field. Instead of jumping into the fray, however, Archimonde stays back, always behind Kel’Thuzad, with a sand representation of the battlefield. Archimonde attacks this sand creation, dealing damage to enemy Heroes or knocking terrain onto the battlefield that damages when hits and creates unpassable terrain when it lands.
It’s Kel’Thuzad but beach body ready.
