Brode Confirms Discover is Weighted Towards Class Cards

Ben Brode confirms that Discover cards are 4x as likely to give class cards. If this is across the board then it definitely changes how they are weighted in each class quite a bit.

Hearthstone World Championship Finals

Not exactly breaking news at this point but we haven’t had a chance to discuss the outcome. Swedish player for Team Na’Vi Ostkaka is Hearthstone’s second world champion. Winning with a Freeze Mage, Oil Rogue, and the New Patron Warrior deck.

Ostkaka earned his champion title. He had the second best Group stage record dropping only two games (Thijs had the best Group stage run with only one game dropped). Ostkaka went on to face both Pinpingho and Thijs in the quarter and semifinals where after some hard fought victories he secured himself a seat in the grand finals where he promptly 3-0’ed Hotform in what was a fairly underwhelming set of games.

Highlight for me was Pinpingho’s Totem Shaman and seeing a good representation of Rogues.

Post WC eSports Craziness

DreamHack Winter going back to Last Hero Standing

DreamHack Winter is just a few weeks away and it’s dumping the Conquest format. DreamHack is going back to the Last Hero Standing format with no bans, doll out $40,000 in prize money, plus the first round of WC points for 2016. Nydra from GosuGamers also points out that this is not an isolated event either. WePlay is using LHS as did SeatStory Cup.

SeatStory Cup 4

Hearthstone eSports continued to move forward after the World Championship this past weekend with SeatStory Cup 4.

Frodan 3-0’ed Thijs! What a world we live in. Thijs tweeted that Last Hero Standing is “another mindset” saying that it was a “big mistake not banning paladin or having something behind for it.” The World Champion Ostkaka, fresh off his amazing BlizzCon performance, was eliminated in the round of 16.

In the end, SuperJJ was the champion, taking StanCifka down 5-0 with his Reno Freeze Mage deck.

Reno Decks!

They’re everywhere. Prepare yourself for Fatigue!

Freeze Mage

Freeze Mage is huge again. Partially thanks to BlizzCon but mostly thanks to Forgotten Torch and Reno Jackson. Really the only pre-existing archetype Reno kind of works in. Check out Tempo Storm’s Meta Snapshot for a look at a version of the post-LoE Freeze Mage decklist. Thijs also has a Freeze Mage with no Reno Jackson, but still running two Forgotten Torches. Hello Angry Cornish Game Hen! Do I have a great crazy game story for you. I was using a reincarnate Shaman against a secret Paladin. I had a Baron Rivendare and a Haunted Creeper present on the board. My opponent had a Dr. Boom and a 6/5 Kvaldir Raider Earlier in the game the new secret Sacred Trial (Secret: If your opponent has 3 or more minions and plays another, destroy the newly played minion.) had been played. It was my opponents turn and he played Mysterious Challenger. He got five of the six secrets available for his class. I knew one had to be Sacred Trial . I attacked Dr. Boom with the creeper which gave me a total of five minions. I then played my Sylvanus. Repentance activated followed by Sacred Trial. I stole his 6/5 and 7/6 and emoted Sorry. I won with the help of my opponent.

Keep up the great work!

Hello TAC,

I saw your live episode at Blizzcon.  In it, you mentioned the reaction of the community to the new cards and the current tempo meta, which got me thinking.  I normally play fun custom decks and work my way from rank 20 to rank 10 every season with these decks.  Currently I'm working on creating the tri-fecta of mill decks(Druid, Rogue, and Warrior).  I have seen plenty of tempo all throughout this range, and still climb at about the same rate with my weird decks. The reason I'm saying this is 90+% of the hearthstone community falls between these two ranks, yet I've never raged or struggled because ITS ALLL TEMPOOO!!! or anything like that.  I think if people try to have fun and be creative than they might get more out of this game and find that they can still ladder up if that is what they are interested in.

What do you think?

Jacob

Hi angry chickens!

What would you think about "an inspire minion" for the Warrior class (I'm still unsure about its stats) that has the following inspire mechanic:

"Inspire: Give taunt to your hero for one turn, while this minion is alive"

So essentially, all opposing minions would have to attack your hero directly for the next turn, unless your opponent can kill the inspired minion with a spell (since your hero can't be silenced).

I believe it fits the class since it gives more use to the warrior's hero power and armor-generating cards... and it is also thematic since warriors should be tanking damage anyways.

Would a card like this be absolute trash or would it be op in Arena or Constructed?

Dblohsevn

Dear Furious Fowl-

As my card collection increases I notice that I only need epics and legendaries. What are your thoughts on offering a card pack with a price of around 200-300 gold which guarantees an "epic card or better"? I would gladly pay the extra gold for this. Also making this a staple of an arena run pack would also entice more to play arena?
