Dear Friend,

I am sure you will be interested to know that I have sent copies of that work which provides a glimpse into the secrets of your maestroship to leading prominent members of Hungarian society as well as to people who are well known to be your friends and supporters.^[1] I will append a list of names to this letter.

I have tried to speak to most of them personally, particularly to the artists, in order to hear their views. I am happy to discover that the opinion they have formed of the book coincides unanimously with my own, since everyone has said that this work is an exceptional textbook which teaches the correct techniques of portrait painting better than any other source.

It gives me true pleasure to have been able to put this book before the Hungarian public, because from the letters we are receiving, I can clearly see that your work has served only to enhance the respect and love which people here in Hungary feel towards you.

Enclosed with this I am sending some of the responses so that you can be personally convinced of this.
