Mary Grett Transition Center Dress Code
2016/2017
General Governing Clauses | The spirit of the dress code is that students will wear clothing that is neat in appearance, must fit properly, not be over-sized or under-sized and does not cause any distraction. |
Pants /Skirts | - No torn or frayed pants. No active wear is allowed. Pants will be tapered or straight-legged.
- All pants must be worn above the hips; no sagging of or baggy pants allowed.
- No tight fitting pants (e.g., tights, bicycle pants or spandex) are allowed.
- Girls may wear skirts. Length must meet CCISD guidelines. (Must be no more than 3 inches above the knee)

Shirts and Blouses | - No color restrictions for any clothing, school or work related shirts are highly recommended.
- Shoulders must be covered at all times by an article of clothing.
- All shirts/blouses must be properly buttoned at all times. Crop tops are not allowed.
- Tank tops (including strapless) are not allowed. No cleavage or undergarments are to be revealed.

WinterWear | - Jackets are to be worn properly & not at waist.
- No trench coats or oversized coats.

Other Important Restrictions and Information | - Sandals must have support across the top of the foot. Flip flops and beachwear shoes are not allowed. Shoes with strings must be tied.
- Belts that are worn must not hang below waist.
- Caps, hats, headgear, beanies, or sunglasses are NOT allowed.
- One earring may be worn on the bottom lobe.
- Distracting hairstyles, hair cuts, or hair colors are NOT allowed. No spiked hair or sculptured designs or letters on head.
- No body piercing, tongue rings, eyebrow rings, nose rings, ear gauges (plugs), or decorative mouthpieces allowed (grills).
- All gang-related symbols and markings as determined by local gang prevention authorities are not permitted. No bandanas/do-rags may be brought to school. All tattoos and “hickeys” are to be covered at all times with clothing or tape.
- Dangling key rings and chains will not be permitted. This includes chains attached to wallets, footwear, or backpacks.
- Facial and body glitter is NOT allowed.
- Excessive jewelry is NOT allowed. (i.e. dog collars, leather bracelets/belts with studs, etc.) Jewelry related to “Goth” is not permitted. Heavy chains, pendants, and other jewelry are not permitted. Shirts/Objects promoting devil worship, sex, drugs, or obscenities will not be allowed.
- No excessive, distracting make-up or finger nail polish (i.e. black, blue, etc.) of any kind will be allowed for any student. No black/dark lipstick or make up allowed.
- Contacts of unnatural eye color or design are not permitted.
- No electronics devices are allowed.
- Cell phones must be in the “off” position and stored. Unless they are being used for instruction or in break areas. Cell phone rules emulate a “real world” work expectation.
- Community work training students must wear closed toe shoes at the job site.
- Community work training students must have shirts tucked in at all times.
- Community work training students are not allowed to carry backpacks.
- Community work training students will have to abide by job site dress code policies.
